WabFab: very poor experience

Ordered (and paid for) a HiLift slider adapter and base back in May of 2012. Now nearly November of 2012 and still have not received.

Several emails inquiring as to possible delivery resulted in generic form letter returns. Will be cancelling order and requesting refund and will update post pending outcome.

I continue to get emails from WabFab encouraging me to order from them and get a 10% discount.... !

a few years back i ordered a bikini top kit for my '88 4runner.

the www site didn't state on-hand quantity available and i didn't ask... well, i think it took about 6 weeks or more to get. i honestly don't remember any more.

i wasn't in a big hurry because the 4runner was "running" :)

so, i waited and then emailed to find out they were attending an event and then taking some vacation time.

earlier this year i took advantage of a coupon code and bought some ball joint spacers... let's just say it was not the fastest transaction, although email was a little better this time around.

the ball joint spacers came directly from toy tech.

luckily, agian, i wasn't in a rush for the parts.

i would suggest to anyone ordering from them to CALL and verify any inventory before ordering.

just my experience.

Why not go over to yotatech and say something? He posts there all the time and is a board sponsor. You might be able to get an answer from him.

wabfab is right there with shrockworks, both have no idea what "customer service" is all about.
Im surprised that people still hand over cash to them

I would have to respectfully disagree as far as Shrockworks customer service.

Whenever I called them, someone answered and addressed my concerns. Whenever I emailed them, I received a timely and appropriate response. They were/are up front about long wait times. Post-sale service has been great as well.

Not sure what your particular concerns were but I have no complaints about Shrockworks.

well from all that I have read about shrockworks, is that they will flat out lie, to customers, tell them they will have the bumper in X weeks, then months later, tell them it will be another X weeks, and so on, tell them one thing, then do another, ship the wrong parts, ship the wrong bumper, just way to many bad reviews about them, not only on this site, but other sites.

well from all that I have read about shrockworks ...

I take it from what you are saying here is that you have never actually bought anything or dealt with Shrockworks personally... I have and my feed back reflects my experience with them.

I try to refrain from posting opinions about vendors that I have not actually dealt with myself... just sayin'

Everyone has different expectations and a lot of these custom shops are not operating on a very big profit margin so I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to delays and operational snafus.

That said, my experience with WabFab is beyond my generous tolerance for any company.

correct,, after reading reviews of them, do you really think, Im going to send them my money ? lol
I have not, and will not, send a company that flat out lies, to its customers my hard earned cash, in "hopes" that someday I will get what I paid for, and moreso, hope that its all there.

I will always do my research on any company that Im going to send my money to, not only on this forum, but LOTS of other forums, and just by "googling" thier name and see what it pulls up :pimp:

I agree with your doing research before you part with your hard earned cash. It is absolutely your decision whether to do business with company A or company B.

What I don't agree with is making comments about a particular person or company with whom you have had no direct experience/contact with but repeating hearsay as though it was your own experience.

I've also had a bad experience with WabFab, so I got a hi-lift slider adaptor from Toytec. They had the one made by Lotus in stock, and they offer a T4R.org discount.

This may be relevant: WabFab - YotaTech Forums

His poor people skills and crappy customer service are his fault, but it looks like he's got a glitch in his ordering system and he may not know you guys placed orders recently. That's probably a 3rd party system and not his fault, I'd call his shop or post up in that thread and let him know you're waiting to hear from him.

Also, there's a fellow on the board here who makes and sells slider adapters - I'd spend my money there first. :bigok:

in the future i would look at toytec first... especially if they offer a forum discount.

i took advantage of a promo that wabfab was doing and ordered.

i was hoping the experience would be different from my bikini top kit order several years earlier... yes, a little better but enough of an experience to take them off my list of vendors to support.

Ouch!

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Needless to say I'll be going with Toytec for my spacers now instead. Wish you the best OP on getting this resolved!

He probably read threads just like you started here. What he said doesn't sway me away from shrockworks but does prompt me to investigate further. Everyone has to weed their way through the BS trash talk and figure out what makes sense and seems legit in order to form an opinion on the seller.

Shrockworks has made the mistake in the past of promising lead times that they couldn't follow through on. Sometimes it was their fault, sometimes it was a 3rd party failing them. Either way, they've had their times of failing to provide good customer service.....BUT.....

The big difference is that Schrockworks is a very legit company employing many skilled craftsman to make high quality, aesthetically pleasing products. Some of their products take a long time to make. And usually they are honest about the lead time and accurate in getting you your product as promised.

WabFab on the other hand, is one dude with very poor people skills that has an online storefront where he resells what can be bought 5 other places. The few items that he does make himself (Slider adapters are IT, from what I know) are small and should not take very long to make if he was even remotely trying to provide good customer service. It really chaps my hide when a guy like him gets all high and mighty on a forum, treats everyone like dirt, and can't even make a set of slider adapters and ship them to a customer in 6 months. Seriously? It's a dinky slider adapter. Make 2 dozen of them and sit them on the shelf so you can ship them out the day they are ordered for pete's sake.

BTW, he doesn't even show his face on this forum, because he knows people won't put up with his BS. He's a good old boy over on YT though. If I posted this on YT, it would get deleted and I'd get banned. lol. Which is just nuts...considering everything I said is true and I didn't even use any cuss words. ;)
