Walker 18901 Sound FX Muffler

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any real life experience with the Walker sound FX Muffler. I know there is another Muffler thread lurking around recently, but this one is specifically asking about the sound FX one.

Specifically, how loud is it actually? I'm seeing mixed reviews on Amazon, eBay, Etc. Some people are saying it's just as quiet as OEM, and others are saying it has a bit of a rumble to it.

I want something close to OEM with the sound, not too loud. I don't mind a little bit of Rumble, but this isn't a race car or a V-8. Is there any Highway drone? Pretty much, I don't want much extra noise unless I'm at WOT.

I bought a No Name eBay special a couple weeks ago, and it fits great, but it's a little loud and has a bit of a drone to it that is pretty annoying.
I also feel like I lost a little bit of torque with the eBay special. I think it's just cheap.

Looks like the Walker sound FX Muffler is now about the same cost as the eBay special, so I'm going to return that and grab the Walker if the sound is right. I know Walker has the quiet flow, but it costs a good $40 more than the sound FX right now.

I wound up not returning the muffler. Turns out the gasket I installed with it was faulty. A new gasket quieted it down a lot and I got my throttle response back.
Still not OEM quiet, but pretty close, in my opinion.

The Sound FX is just a cheaper version of the Quietflow. 1 year warranty as opposed to lifetime and all steel as opposed to stainless which is not a problem where you live. Probably a little louder than stock.

Going by MaineRunna's comment, I have the quietflow system has a deeper sound at hi idle startup after that quiet as stock. No drone at hwy speeds, might hear a bit more when kicking down to passing gear. I like it.

Online comments and reviews of cam swaps and mufflers are completely relative to whoever the person is so it’s very difficult to know.

If you do a new muffler, a before/after dB reading with phone app inside cab and behind truck would be useful info along w audio clip how it sounds. My preference is quiet as possible for the 5vz. It’s just not one to really flex muscle.

I’ll be thinking new muffler soon and would value that info. But I need a tailpipe bent so I may just tell a shop to put in whatever is quiet and built well w warranty.
