Walmart Has 5-qt SuperTech 5W-30 Full Syn for $12

Don't know how long it will last but Walmart has rolled back their 5-quart SuperTech full synthetic 5W-30 oil to $12.

I did some checking around and while the manufacturer varies by region, this oil is made by the same companies that make big name brands.

I haven't used it before, but perhaps ironically, I don't think twice about using Equate ibuprofen and so on. That, coupled with my belief than any oil approved by the manufacturer and changed per the OCI is as good as any other in terms of any appreciable differences, led me to abandon my anti-SuperTech bias and jump on this deal.

Great price. Walmart has seemed to roll back most of their oils back a few bucks lately.

I've run supertech oils in the extended family's vehicles with the orange cans of death. No problems to report, and some of those vehicle's go 1/yr oil changes with who knows how many miles.

Like you said, it meets the spec's to get the label. Can't go wrong with it, we just like to think we can do better.

My local wall-mart is actually pretty nice in terms of layout, organization, and the products they carry (They even have budget fly fishing equipment. Cheap-o flies, but they're made in England!). It is in a nice area though.

My only gripe is that I wish they had more cashiers working. There have been times, when I only needed one item, where coming back another time seemed much easier than waiting on the line.

Yes, I checked locally and it looks like it's back up to $17.47. That's still significantly less expensive than the name brands for essentially the same oil.

Before anyone jumps on that last statement, I mean it in the sense that any oil that meets objective specifications (SAE, etc.) and is acceptable to Toyota will deliver performance close enough to any other oil that advantages or disadvantages are invisible or insignificant to most users.
