Want to change 2014 T4R Fog Lights to ion cyrstal/yellow.

I have pretty strong opinions on this. Yes they should be yellow and yes they should be halogen to melt the ice off so that they can be useful in bad weather. Ideally you'd rig them so that they can be on without the headlights - so that if you get into a whiteout they'll have a chance of cutting under the fog and you won't have the headlights bouncing back off the snow/fog and blinding you. There must be instructions somewhere around here for doing that. I don't think it's exactly legal but no way you're getting pulled over in a whiteout for running fogs without headlights. Definitely no yellow tint to dim them - just yellow bulbs.

I'm not sure about the cheaper bulbs. I've had PIAA Ion Crystal (now "Plasma Ion" I think) in the past and they're fantastic but very expensive. I'm thinking maybe Hellas to save some money? The bulbs you posted are probably just as good though. Not sure but definitely doing something before the snow flies.

I also will not be replacing my headlights with whiter/bluer bulbs. Too much glare for my tastes.

With you on all points. I have run yellow (PIAA ion crystal) in my '98 4R for the 15 years I owned that and in my '88 in aftermarket Hellas for 10 years before that. I swear by them. Sometimes it's not so much cutting under the headlights forward but just being able to see the edge of the road on the side that matters.

One last thing I would like to add is that even though it's a little added cost, I recommend keeping 2 spare bulbs (headlights and fogs) in the truck at all times. Inevitably, a bulb will go out in the middle of a storm on your way to your destination. Having 2 leaves you with a spare for the return trip as well.

No offense meant here but what's your experience driving in the snow being from GA/FL?
I ask b/c I grew up in GA and the snows there aren't like they are here.

And while I appreciate the feedback on replacing headlights first, I'm also looking to understand the white light and LED questions.

Lol. Moved here about 2 years ago from ohio. Plenty of experience with the white death up there. Enough that i headed south...
