Want To Hook UP MY 4Runner

Well I'm finally 17 and my father bought me a 1996 toyota 4runner limited model. It has the 3.4 v6 in it. I want to put in a new intake, a new exhaust, and possible the TRD supercharger if possible. here's what i've been looking at.

I think you can get the supercharger from the TRD website, but I might be wrong.

I heard it would bring it up to around 265hp. It will turn the 3.4 hot dog into a screaming taco. I heard of a guy here in montana that put on on and he went up this really steep pass that is a challenge for mine and said it didn't even slow down. I have read about this question being asked before and you may have to do something with the fuel system as well. Im not quite sure but im sure someone else will have more to say. I wish I could put a SC on mine but they aren't cheap either. Good luck.

try the deckplate mod first- save $$

You can achieve the same horsepower gains as the K & N FIPK intake with the infamous "deckplate mod" to your existing airbox.Cost is probably less than $15.

I have read several threads saying the AIRAID spacer is ineffective and a waste of money. Have never seen any dyno improvements from that piece of gear.

Supercharger-go big young man while you are at it. The addition of the S/C generally requires improvements to the fuel delivery so you are not always running "lean".

TRD and URD offer 7th injectors for the increased fuel flow needs.

wow, almost a 100 HP gain, that's impressive. Where can I buy thins thing though because I cannot find it anywhere for sale, even on TD's website.

And my uncl and father are mechanics, will it come with some sort of documentation on how to hook up the 7th injector?

i heard its pretty much plug and play, but dont quote me on that...

dont forget about your tranny upgrades along with the fuel upgrades, otherwise get ready to replace that tranny soon!

The Supercharger alone will bring your RWHP up to about 190 hp. (stock rwhp is around 150 hp)

If you add fuel mods (check our URDUSA.com) - it will increase it up to about 240 rwhp.

Add a smaller pulley to the S/C, Headers, and water injection - you will be up around 270 rwhp.

The tranny will hold up, but you will want to get a tranny cooler and a valve body modification done that makes it shift quicker.

The total for all this will run around $6000 in parts. If you take it to a shop to have it all installed it will add quite a bit more in labor too.

It is kind of expensive, but when you get it all running right, it is worth the time and money invested imho.
