wanting to removing rack on roof

I hate the dang thing. On top of that , it's all faded. Somewhere I saw where someone had removed theirs and replaced it with some kind of strip. Does anyone have any idea where I can buy the strip?

That strip that you are refering to is on your 4runner as well, it is the strip right outside of the roof rack. The truck you are refering to belongs to 4rnr4me. I looked at pictures of his truck and there are no holes on the top at all. He even verified it for me. So we came to the conclusion that his truck did not come with a roof rack.

My 2000 is a SR5 and came from the factory w/o a roof rack.

I wnt to Pep boys last night. They carry a solid black 1 in. body strip. It has the 3M tape on it . 16 feet cost 18.00. Im wondering if 1 in" would be wide enough. I thought about removing the rack, put screws back in and then cover with scilicone...or fill holes with JB weld. What do you think of that idea?

I wouldnt jb weld.. you might change your mind one day and want it back on.... also have you pulled it off and looked at it yet?? I took mine off but thought it looked a lil goofy and made it kinda look like a beefed up station wagon... sure i will get it for that comment but... I would look into repainting... Ive read some threads talking about removing and repainting with a satin black paint... it looked great.. infact I need to find the time to do mine!

if any of you all do take it off and decide you don't want it lying around anymore, I'd be more the happy to take it off your hands I believe it is compatable with SR5 models that came from the factory with out a roof rack? If so, let me know. I'd love to do business
