Hi guys. My wife came home tonight saying three warning lights in the dash came on and stayed on the last 2-3 miles to our driveway, all simultaneously. They are the brake (!), battery, and A/T oil temp lights. I checked all the fuses and the A/T fluid. All is well there. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help! this forum is great.

ps-Still have the random grinding sound too that started last winter...still temperature dependent too. colder = noise.

Check your belts!

Brake + Battery usually indicates an alternator issue, which could be a missing belt, or bad alternator.

I've never had an auto-trans, so I don't know if it will also light up the AT temp. Start with the alternator.

I agree with dingman, I just recently threw an alternator belt and all those lights appeared on my dash also including the auto tranny light. New belt took care of all of them. Check your belt.

hey guys...unhooked the battery last night in the dark, waited, hooked it back up. same three warning lights were still on. this morning, warning lights are not on at all and everything seems to be working correctly. there is a slight squeek though that my wife described as a belt sound. will check when i get home.

thanks for the quick response. this place rocks.

This was the first thing I thought. If the belt is still good and has proper tension then check the output of the alternator. If its an older battery in your vehicle it wouldn't hurt to get it tested as well. I know most places in my area will do it for free.
