Was LSD an option in 2000?

I'm a newb to 4Runners and I'm still looking to buy one. I'm looking at one right now and his ad says it has the locking rear diff (and that it's rare, although it doesn't seem all THAT rare) and that it has an LSD, but I've never seen any others with LSDs and when I talked to my boss that has a 2000, he said he doesn't even remember that being an option. So I'm just wondering if this guy doesn't know what he's talking about or what. Thanks!

I have an 02, which is a 3rd generation just like the 00 models. LSD? Not to sound stupid and ignorant of my vehicle, but what is that? The only LSD I know of is soaked on little pieces of paper that make you freak out. Regarding the rear locking diff, he may be referring to the Center diff lock option, even though that is not the same thing. Unless he had a Promax lockright or some other option added.

LSD: Limited Slip Differential ;):

AFAIK the 3rd gen was never offered with an LSD. Locker, yes, but not LSD. Of course I may be wrong, others who are more knowledgeable can chime in...

I had a Montero with an LSD and IME, Locker > LSD any day of the week.
 
LSD - Limited Slip Differential, oh, ...., duh. I have had several ask me if I had limited slip when I have talked about getting a promax rear locker - now that all makes sense. I just nodded my head and acted like I knew what I was talking about (lol).

And to answer offshorebear's question, 2wds came with an open diff only. 4wds came with an open in the front (all) and open or elocked in the rear. The newer TRD sport model Tacos come with LSD in the rear AFAIK.
 
Auto LSD is just a traction control based gimmick offered in the new Tundra and Tacomas. I'm not sure if they offered that gimmick in the 4th gens though.
 
Cool, thanks for the info guys! I didn't think it was an option. I have an LSD on my 7, but the 4x4 world is new to me so I wasn't sure.
