Unlike you, i have not had a good experience with watchmaker regulation. The ONLY time that i had to do it was with my Omega Deville Coaxial (original one back early 1990's). It had caliber 2500B. My watchmaker who also sold me the watch (Authorized Dealer) was trained by Omega to regulate the Coaxial. It took me two trips back and forth (after sale) to the watchmaker for regulating. And this is with a COSC certified watch.
Without proper regulation to different positions (and temps, etc.) at the factory, the variation in rate by position could be very big. So, although the watchmaker can regulate post-sale, it does not mean that positional variation in rate will be good.
Myota movements not coaxial, regulation is straight forward, Timing machine and steady hands all it takes. timing machine can position movement in various positions then in a few seconds you`ll get the reading.
Maybe I make it sounds easy but in fact it`s not that complicated.
I have POS Invicta with swiss sellita sw200 movement I regulated to +0.5sec a day. I can make it dead on but I prefer my watches a little fast, it`s easier to stop it for a couple seconds once a week or month. So far it stays that way for a couple of years, very consistent in my books.
