Did you disconnect the fan belt or do you have a switched electric fan you can shut off?
It would sucks to have the stock fan act like a propeller and pull itself into the radiator

I agree, never knew that and never disconnected my fan belt. Although I don't think I've had the water level to the fan before.

I went through a stream that I had been through several times before but suddenly my front end dropped down to where most of my hood was covered. I think someone had gotten stuck and dug out a whole. Fortunately I popped right back out and pulled off to check everything out when I cleared the stream. After that I put on a snorkel and did the diff breather lines mod. This will make me think twice about crossing streams. How do you guys check them out, wade in or wait for someone else to go through?

Electric fan? I seem to remember some write ups about fitting a Taurus electric fan, is that what you are referring to?

The Taurus Fan is a common mod but any electric fan can have a switch added to the circuit for a water crossing.

Didn't know that could happen. Makes sense with flexible plastic fans. I wonder why no one ever mentioned that in those youtube videos of water crossings.

...How do you guys check them out, wade in or wait for someone else to go through?

Safest for vehicle if one wades through first to scout terrain.

Safest for me if I just let someone else drive across first - LOL!

i screwed up a radiator on my old 84 Extended Cab on a water crossing when I was stationed in alaska 91-94, fan acted like a prop, pulled itself into the radiator.
some day the fan clutch should have prevented it from happening but it didn't. I won't trust it. Preferably I avoid water crossings because i hate the effect it has on stuff.
