Water Leak from Moonroof

I have water leak from the moonroof. I took a car to the stealership,and a technician said that they have to replace a whole moonroof unit to stop the leak. Becasuse a moonroof gasket(rubber sealed) is connected to the moonroof, it's not sold separately. It costs over $800!
I couldn't believe what he said, and I took my car back without fix it.
Do you guys know other way to fix the leak?

What year is the truck?

Does the gasket still make contact? You might try carefully cleaning it and trying to revive some of its suppleness using some sort of rubber protectant (and I don't mean Armor All).

The gasket around the moonroof is not a watertight seal at all. Water does get past that seal and that is normal. If you are getting water inside the passenger compartment, then I would lay odds that your drain tubes are stopped up. You should have at least 2, but probably 4 drain tubes (one at each corner). Open your roof and pour a bit of water down these tubes. Should drain out around the wheels. If it don't drain out, then you have a clog. Compressed air will clean out the tube.

That sounds about right. I had a gear grind down on my moon roof on my old celica. Of course they didn't sell just the gear, so they had to replace almost an entire assembly that finally coast $500.

Try what the other guys mentioned. I take it your truck isn't under warranty any longer...

How do you know if the leak is coming from the moonroof? Is it obvious? I ask because I just discovered I have a pretty bad water leak, but I can't figure out where it's coming from. After 2 days of rain, I have lots of water in the driver side front seat and rear seat floors, but the passenger side is dry. I lifted the carpet and found that it was wetter underneath than on top of the carpet. I'm stumped as to where it's coming from. I've searched the whole floor from the firewall under the dash, to under the seats and I don't see where it could be coming from...
