Water spots on windows

Question: I know I ask a lot of detailing questions, but this one is killing me. I have tried everything to remove these hard water spots on my windows, and nothing is working. The weird thing is that the front windows don't have them, just the side rear and back. I heard somewhere that the front windows are a different type glass? I don't know, but I do know that it is driving me nuts, I've tried armor all glass cleaner, glass plus (without ammonia), vinegar, clay, and some type of glass cleaner foam, all of which did absolutely nothing on these water spots. I'm wondering if they are actually in the window tint or something but it's factory so I figures other people would notice also. Anyway, any suggestions would be helpful. I also tried rain-X and all it did was seal them in, so I'm out of ideas here. I don't want to use anything abrasive that will scratch them. Thanks

For anything on the glass that can be removed, I have no problems at all when I use Windex. I didn't notice that in your post, did you even try it?

I had the same problem just this past weekend. I went to the store (Kregen Auto Parts if you wonder) and bought Stoner's Invisible Window and some microfiber towel.
It took several attempts to completely remove those water spots but it worked.

Thanks, it looks like from that thread that it's not just me, I'll try the stoner's invisible glass, thanks again for recommendation. I sure hope it works because some people were saying steel wool, harsh...

Try the detailing clay, it's good for taking the water spots of the glass!

I learned this from that show on speed vision, classic old car garage or something like that.
But anyway, you take a real fine steelwool and wet it and work at it (will also remove miner blimishes) then wax the window.
Most of the time I just wax all my windows on the outside. It gets the spots off and it makes it easier to clean in the future.

Use windex and newspaper. The newspaper will polish the windows and remove the spots. I learned this 40 years ago and nothing polishes windows like newspaper. Good luck.

News paper is really good I agree. Also the good thing about news paper it leaves no lint.

Spray the window with cleaner and just wad-up a couple of sheets of "dry" newspaper and wipe the window until it is clean. When the newspaper gets to damp to continue drying, just get somemore dry newspaper.

4Runner's windshield, side windows, and side mirrors are made of hydrophilic glass and repel water like a waxed car or a window that has been treated with Rain-X. Try Windex with Vineger.

I have a 96 are my windows like that? I have noticed the back side windows repel water nicely.

Just the 03 and 04. Fairly new technology for glass coating.

IIRC, my 2002 SE had some hydrophilic glass. The side windows, I think.

i have the same problem with my little mitsubishi mirage, it has spent its whole life parked next to some sprinklers near my driveway, and now theres like some crazy water marks that will NOT come off.... ive tried windex, ammonia, nail polish remover, CLR remover, blah blah blah... still... calcium build up on the windows.... only half the car has this problem... the other side i perfectly fine....

my brother says to just try windex and a razor blade and take the time to scratch them all out using windex as the lubrication... ill try it out one day when i get the time... till then, im keeping my 4runner away from that sprinkler.....
