Water under DS carpet

Hi all
Was just cleaning the interior of my truck out, and noticed a bunch of water/rust under the front driver side carpet below the steering wheel/pedals, everywhere else seems fine. I had the same problem last year, and ended up yanking most of the interior out to POR15 that corner, I also bought some husky liners.

Is there anything i can do to stop this from coming back? I assume the water is coming from water spilt out of the mat, though i've been pretty carefull to keep it all dry. Would it be worth it to pull the truck apart again and paint truck bed liner on the floor?

It might be coming in from a loose or missing grommet on the firewall. Look from both sides to make sure they are all weather-tight.

Do you have rubber floor mats? If so, it's doubtful that the water damage is all from wet/snowy shoes. Unless your mats are cracked and leaking straight down.

Good point, i'll take a look at the gromets, that would explain the water. I just put in a new set of rubber mats as well.
