But not a drop to drink.

98 4Runner with 165k. Leaking all over the front of the engine. Water pump went out unexpectedly. Checked the forums and have a good idea what is needed just have a couple questions.
1) Is it worth it to get the 2 idler pulleys? Pretty expensive even with discounts.
2) What about the tensioner? I can get the snap-on tool but tensioner runs about 30 bucks?

List so far:
Pump
Pump gasket
Belt
TStat
Tensioner

What do you all think?
Is that enough?

Well, if you get the tensioner there is no need for the compressor tool. At your mileage, I would do it all, tensioner, idlers, seals, TB, WP, t-stat. Then call it good for ten years.

I just did mine today the tensioner pulley went out on my busted into 2 peices ball bearings everywhere so i bought a kit off ebay for $87 free shipping it came with cam seals front main and water pump both pullys and timming belt. it all went on like a charm and this kit was so much cheaper then crappy auto zone. the pullys alone at auto zone is 159 bucks and another 80 for the water pump and 50 for the timming belt.

My truck dosent have a ac so it was simple to get the tensioner off w/o no extra work

Ok thanks all I will just replace everything.
How hard is it to replace the cam seals?

Everything else looked (for the most) pretty straightforward.
