Waterless Coolant, anyone used this stuff?

Saw it on an older Leno's Garage a while back and thought it sounded really neat. Anyone here used it in their trucks and if so, how awesome is it?

I've used stuff like this in the past. I don't believe it has any antifreeze properties. Just cooling? Not good for winter peeps.

Evan's coolant does work down to -40F, which is actually 6 degrees colder than Toyota Coolant (-34F)

The biggest difference between the two is the lack of ethelyne glycol. Instead is uses propylene glycol, which is much safer and not harmful to the skin, and easier to clean up on the race track.

I personally use Engine Ice (propylene glycol) on my motorcycles to good effect.

It doesn't contain water so I don't think freezing is a problem. I think your engine oil will freeze first :nod:

We've used it at work on a few collector cars that see more time sitting in garages and at shows than driving.

Its good stuff but not as simple to use as draining your coolant and filling it with Evans.

The reason I don't use it on my personal vehicle is that you can't add water to it or top it off with normal coolant without ruining it and needing to completely flush everything out and prep all over again.
Being that I use this truck in the middle of nowhere often I don't want to have to have such specific fluid requirements in an emergency.

This alone would would deter me from using it.. It's too expensive just to buy an extra or 2 to keep around. You need 2 gallons to fill our entire rad, that would add up quick. If I bust a line, crack the rad, or whatever else that could possibly happen on our old cooling systems, while I'm away from civilization, I'm screwed.

If you can afford to buy a case of it and don't care to keep it in your rig at all times then great, go for it... But I'll stick to good ol' Toyota Red. Hell, it's expensive enough.
