Wax for a black 4runner in south FL

Hey guys,
New to forums. Just got a 07 4runner 3 months ago and want to wax it. Not sure what to use other than 100% caranuba I heard. My truck is black, never had black before. Also what in the world to use on the dash, its like a rubber feel on the limited. Any help is appreciated greatly! I like the forum, it is motivating to read about 4rummers!

If you want a cheaper wax, then yes go with Carnuba. However, be aware that Carnuba literally attracts dust. So your truck will be dusty by the next morning after waxing it, and again after any time you wash it. I use Zaino's, but it's pricey. Their site is www.zainostore.com if you're interested. Another highly recommended brand on this forum is Klasse. As far as I know, Zaino's works best on darker vehicles, and Klasse is for lighter. Best of luck deciding.

Btw: for reference, if you want a cheap carnuba wax, Mother's and Meguiars both work fine, but you will not get the same results. They don't have the shine and depth that you will get with Zaino's. It's like comparing over the counter medication to prescription medication.

For the 3 step Mother's system you are looking at around $24.00 before tax. Zaino's needs to be ordered, and will run you about $51.85 for their Z-2, Z-5, and their ZFX which needs to be added to each bottle of wax so you can do multiple coats at once. (cures the wax almost instantly to your paint.) And they charge around $8.95 for shipping.

Ive always wanted to try Zaino stuff, but never got around to ordering online...

Ive gone through two cans of Meguiars NXT wax on my truck and I dont have any complaints..... it does its job I wax and clay bar every couple of months.
In S. Fl you are going to need to stay on top of that black!!

ps- i was just at the cruzan ampitheatre on may 5. it was like a 3 hr drive but much worth it! west palm is nice

Ok, when you say clay bar, do you mean a real bar? Or is it a liquid? I have never done that to any of my vehicles and I keep them snining pretty nicely, hmmmm. Is Meg nxt from any auto store like advanced? Thanks for the reply!

A clay bar is exactly what it sounds like- a bar of clay. You spray the detailer which acts as a lubricant and then you go over it with the clay bar to remove any contaminants.

As for the Meguiars NXT, yes you can find it at any auto store that sells Mother's, Meguiars, Turtle Wax, etc. You can also find different brands of clay bars, but they are pretty much the same.

It can if you don't keep the surface wet with detailer. It's not hard though, so don't worry about it.
