WD-40 Detailing Trick!

I have a 12 year old T4R limited and I decided to detail her today. I have always been frustrated with trying to clean around the door frames on the frame of the truck, the rim around the edges of each door and the tailgate painted areas. I have used simple green and it always leaves a streak – even when diluted. So, I decided to grab a can of WD-40 after reading about how it can clean things. I took a microfiber rag, sprayed some on and wiped everything down. Now it looks like a NEW TRUCK! Best yet, the water displacement of WD40 will help keep it clean for months to come. For all you clean freaks, this is a great trick!

truly 1001 uses for WD-40, heck i even put it in my coffee!! ok not really, but its great stuff. i use the hell out of it working with metal.

ATF is a hardcore cleaner most people don't realize. I keep some "lightly" burnt stuff (the last to be flushed out the radiator when servicing) as a cleaning solution for badly stained parts and stains on your shop floor etc.

My dad used to spray that all over his engines to make it look all shiny and clean. It worked really well.

Isn't WD40 really hard on the paint?

PB BLASTER IS MUCH BETTER AND SMELLS GOOD TOO. Taste great in the morning with breakfast

I would not use WD-40 on paint... over time it WILL strip the paint.

We used to spray the engines and frames and under the fenders and such on our bikes when I raced motocross to keep the mud and sawdust from sticking to them worked great and so did pam but wd40 was cheaper lol:trophy:

WD-40 is just fish oil in an aerosol can. It won't hurt your paint. Other similar products might depending on their composition. That said, it certainly wouldn't be my cleaning agent of choice...

WD-40 isnt fish oil. Its petroleum based.

We use ATF on our fire engines at work. Makes the dash, pump panel, pretty much anywhere you would use armor-all look great. The wd-40 only gets used on tools ie metal parts.
