WD-40 vs. White Grease

Which would be a better lubricant for suspension parts like the uninball in my UCAs or the many bushings around.........

Ive been using WD since I have had my parts, but my roomate just got a can of white grease it seems to be a viable choice.

There's a motorcycle product called Chain Wax. That might be ideal. It penetrates, lubes and dries to a skim coat so it doesn't pickup and hold dirt the way white grease does. WD40 doesn't lube enough or last long enough IMHO.

WD40 is more of a penetrant. I don't use it as a lubricant. I would use the OEM recommended lubes (Synthetic replacement). I found myself using Amsoil's Synthetic Racing Grease for almost everything. Great stuff!

2nd the idea of WD40 as a pen not a lube. I use WD for rusty stuff that won't come loose or want to clean rusty parts up but not for lube.

I use a white grease spray for general lube usage. In the old days it was called sylicone spray?

I use a specific lube for the bikes - I think it's Bellray chain wax.

In all seriousness, I've had issues with WD-40 as lube on rubber components, it seems to eat away at the rubber... As some have mentioned already, chain lube seems to work well, I use Bel-Ray products since I have them laying around for my bike.

thanks for the input guys! i gotta go buy some oil tomm. probably at autozone so i guess ill look around at what theyve got.
no more WD for me

Oh, and astroglide is OH WOW! haha, i used to know a site where u could get free samples in the mail and i used to load up all my friends houses.:beer:

I voted for WD 40 because it has so many uses, but none of them are a straight up lubricant (white grease to WD 40 is apples to oranges, IMO). I use it to clean and penetrate, and as a temporary lubricant, it is okay. By temporary I mean as a kid I used to hit my bike chain with it to make it stop squeaking for the afternoon.

If you mean white lithium spray that's what I would use. Personally I don't even had WD40 in my garage, I prefer PB Blaster for a penetrant. I use white lithium to lube hinges and such, I also use it for my motorcycle chain. Silicone spray I use to treat my weather stripping every few months.

the can just says 'white grease' and the suggested uses are automotive lube amongst other things....

I sprayed some just to check it out, it is white and it is much thicker than say wd40 for comparison.

PB blaster is crazy stuff. when i was bored at an old job i used to just spray it into foam cups and watch it melt
