The seat heaters in my 2003 Limited are adequate. That said, we live in southeastern NC.

Whether a $15k or a $75k vehicle heating a seat with electrical wires shouldn't be that difficult.

That, and they are likely made by the same supplier.

2007 here - seat heaters suck. they come on (kind of) but aren't quick or hot. seat backs have elements down low, but they don't seem to get warm. I am planning on installing aftermarket units that are much larger and will hopefully be a lot warmer. My plan is to re-use the factory switch but replace everything else.

I have an 05 SR5 and was planning on adding seat heaters. I have the console and switches from an 04 Limited. Like you, I was thinking on adding larger heating pads. Do you know the stock dimensions? Or any large after market units? Thanks.

After a lot of research, I found that most recommend the replacement heaters by Rostra. I bought the 250-1870 kits for my SR5, which had some aftermarket heaters already, but they no longer worked. As far as size goes, the ones I bought are perfect inmo for our seats, as the really couldn’t be any wider without entering the area where the hog rings attach the leather anyway. As to whether they will work with your factory switches, I’m not sure, but you can email Rostra tech support from their site and ask. I wish I had the factory roller switches, but the ones that came with my kits were perfectly sized to replace the switches that were already drilled in my console cover so I’m fine with them. They are just low, high, and off. The Rostra kits came with very high quality plug and play harnesses, so I just ripped out the existing harnesses, and used the new ones. Just had to tap +12v and ground. They require a 10A circuit so I used an add a fuse tap on the fuse for the seat controls which was like a 30A and doesn’t get used much anyway. The Rostra also has its own 10A inline fuse. I purchased them right on Amazon.
