Weathertech experience! Awesome and disappointing.

Howdy Folks!

Ordered a full set of Weathertech floor liners (liners not the mats)! Took a little less than 2 weeks to arrive, ordered them diretly from WT. The front and rear arrived in a flat blox, the rear cargo liner arrived a day later rolled in a box.

The front/rear liners are awesome! They cover the floor completely (including some extra around the side), the drivers side fit right on the hooks. The rear is extra slick - it covers the entire rear in one piece (including the center carpeted hump), and kind of clips under the front of the seat hinges. Fitmet is outstanding all around.

We got them in matching gray (Limited, Stone leather) which is very close if not right on!

OK, so that's the awesome part

The rear liner however is weak (especially for $90). I ordered it using the wizard and indicated a 2008 with the two-tier storage. The mat we received covers about 75% of the rear cargo area - I guess it's designed to sit on the top shelf when it's up (which is a pretty small area, or sit under it. However, under it, or when it's down, it leaves WAY too much of the carpet uncovered.

Is there a different product? Should I just order a rear liner for "no 2-tier"? What I want is a full T-shaped liner that covers from the back of the seats to the bumper, including the rear corners. I don't kind pulling it out to use the shelf (or having to re-install it).

I'm definitely not keeping this one as it's not very effective.

Overall super satisfied, just think the rear product needs to be something different.

Call them -- it must be the wrong product. They make a floor liner that fits under the double-decker storage shelf and covers the entire surface (it follows the wheel well covers and flares out to go to the sides near the door). They also make one that fits on top of the double-decker storage.

I have the one that fits under the double-decker storage, then bought a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet to put on top of the dhelf.

Yeah, it looks like there's a little bug in their order system - I actually noticed something odd about the part#'s and walked back through it again (FWIW, I'm a developer so I'm reasonbly astute with web interfaces).

Anyway, when you're viewing the cargo mats as a seperate item (not in a protection package) and Add to Cart, it adds the specific mat (smaller top or larger bottom) you're currently viewing. That product page shows both and you toggle views.

During the wizard for a protection package, when you get to step 3 where you pick you cargo item, it doesn't add the currently viewed item to the cart, it only adds the smaller mat (#42229). Even if you edit that item (there's a change for each of the package parts), and toggle it over, it always defaults back to the smaller top mat.

Definitely going to just send this back and get the bottom mat - figured it probably even works on top of the shelf in the down position too.

I noticed the same thing when using the Protection Package configurator.

It would be best to take a few minutes and call them before you send back -- they may require an RMA before they accept the return. Plus, maybe you can get someone in a good mood and they will either send the right one before they receive the old one back, or they may cut you some sort of a deal since there's a bug in the order entry system.

That's an outstanding idea! They do issue RMA#'s via the phone, so it probably won't hurt to talk them up a bit I've heard their customer service is really good too, so this should be reasonably pleasant.

I should have taken notice that the image and part# didn't jive with what I thought it should be. No biggie, it's a really nice product, just looking forward to getting all the correct product.

WeatherTech's liners for the Double Decker system is meant to be used when the DD is in the raised position. The area under the shelf when the DD is raised is shorter than the top when the shelf is lowered. (This is caused by the double hinges the used on for the shelf. If you fold down the second row raise the shelf it'll be easier to visualize.)

Husky's DD liner covers all of the rear area when the shelf is down.

Weathertech has two liners forthe doble-decker system -- one for below the shelf (the one you're referring to) and one that fits on the shelf. It seems that the OP received the one for on top of the shelf instead of the one that fits below.

They also have one for use without the double-decker, and it should cover the entire area, too. (I have the double-decker so I can't say for certain.)

OK, got my RMA# for the small one and the correct one on the way!

Again, it was because of the bug in the package wizard, buying it separate worked OK.

At any rate they have 3 models for late model 4th gens (part numbers may be for gray only):

For Double Decker setups:

A small mat that sits on top #42229
A larger mat that fit underneath when the top shelf is up #42228

For non-DD setups:

A larger mat that covers the entire cargo area. #42230


I ordered the large for the DD, because even if you use it with the DD in the down postition, it still covers MOST of the cargo area (it's just a little shorter to clear the hinges for the DD).

I debated about buying the non-DD (42230) and using it when the DD was down, but I figured if we used it when it was up, it would be a little long and not lie flat. To be honest, I even considered removing the DD, but I think it has value on occasion!

I figure the DD mat could only be 3-4" shorter at most, so even in use when it's down, it still should give us like 95% coverage.

Glad that the order is straightened out.

For the section that the cargo liner won't cover when the shelf is down, I use a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet (a remnant from the piece I cut for the shelf).

By the way, while the shelf is up, the space between the hinge and the rear seat is useful storage space.
