Weathertech Floor Liners/Mats Installed - VERY IMPRESSED!

I usually get universal rubber mats a Costco since they are usually under $20. I got a set on sale for $8 a year or two ago.

Before that I ran a set of universal carpet mats from Costco that I got in 2004 which still look fantastic to this day. The only reason I took them out was because I wanted to change them up for winter months. Despite being universal, it seems like they were designed for the 3rd Gen - it matches damn near perfect in fitment and color. For some reason the OEM mats never lasted long. By 2004 they had worn a hole worn through them which also went through the carpet, exposing the rubber backing of the actual carpet.

I have them too, I love them. But, I accidentally spilled some PVC primer on the front passenger one. (Was replacing a sump pump for my neighbor). I can't for the life of me get rid of the stain. I'm tempted to try to dye them and see what happens.

Straight out of the box. It will not lay flat no matter what I do and the logo was placed in the wrong spot. This was straight out of the box.

Nothing and to say about the front and middle mats though. Weathertech will be refunding my money on the cargo.

Next hot day lay them out in the driveway for awhile. Drink a few beers, throw the ball for the dog, etc. After awhile it'll lay flat, then you toss it in the 4Runner.

Those look better than some of the previous weathertechs I have seen. They used to have (or maybe it's just a different model) some deep ridge patterns that were probably to allow water and stuff to fall off your shoes, but I saw alot of cases of the ridges causing stress, and the rubber splitting at the bottom. That is bad on a set of mats costing $200...

I ended up getting husky liners for $35 on an amazon super sale (front pair only). They fit perfectly and are very stiff, and as a result show little to no wear 5 years later.

Wow old thread - Anyway I've a 2000 manual transmission 4WD (near mint) but have good solid rubber mats but moved to the salt belt so ideally want mats that can catch the snow/salt...

these look good but not sure if the clutch would hit the mat and also someone mentioned moisture collecting underneath .....

Are these the best mats for the 3rd Gens?

BTW for me it's incredibly annoying trying to protect this car in the salt belt - I wish people would just learn how to drive on snow /ice with 2WD.... oh well ....
