Weathertech VS Husky 4th gen.

i coming up with mixed results.:confused:

5th gen owners seem to prefer husky because they are more flexible/less slick, but the husky mats offered for the 4th gen are a different design.... classic vs weatherbeater. most 4th gen owners seem to go with WT.

price is not a factor, i just want the best coverage/quality without feeling like i have plastic floor mats.

My only advice is don't set your expectations too high. They're not going to fit perfectly, despite what the ads say.

I've had Huskys on both my 3rd gen and my 4th gen and I like them just fine. Unlike WTs that have a hole in the top for the hook that holds them in place (that water can get through) the Huskys are solid and the back is covered with spikes that hold on to the carpet very well.

Funny thing about the quality is that I was complaining about a less-than-perfect fit on my Huskys but I chalked up to the fact that they're cheaper than WTs. Then I saw a guy with WTs complaining about the exact same thing with his. :shrug:
 
I have weather tech. Serve it's purpose ok. But for the price I expect better feel and quality. It's super thin and even the brand sticker came off after a few days. LOL!

are the husky a flexible rubber material like normal rubber floor mats or would you say they are more comparable to vinyl?
 
I had Weathertechs in my last 4R and loved them, wish I'd grabbed them out before it got traded in.

I won't buy Husky's again, they are really disappointing in my Prius. No holes means no hooks adn they move around a LOT underfoot.

The rear seat piece is great. The Passenger front seems fine but rarely has someone using it (car is mostly driver + kid in back) so it's not getting the test the driver's side gets.

But the front driver's mat has been a constant issue for me.

1. Biggest problem is that it moves forwards. I've tried both leaving the carpet mat in under it and using the bare floor carpet, but in either case, the plastic shell scoots forward up under the pedals until it is stopped by a hard point. Because my seat is back pretty far, this leaves a large swath of carpet susceptible to wet and snow and I've developed a stain there because of it. Let me stress that the mat does NOT interfere with the pedals at all.

2. The sides are very deep but not particularly rigid which doesn't look as neat as it could.

3. The moulding over the dead pedal is poorly designed. The indent in the mat is too large so when I press on the mat over the dead pedal there is a space underneath, resulting in a weird "bubble" that depresses. Unfortunately this is impossible to show with a photo.

#2 and #3 are minor niggles, but #1 bugs me because it was never a problem I had with my Weathertechs in previous cars (Accord & 4Runner). The WT's fit was much tighter and because they utilized the factory hold downs, they didn't budge a millimeter. The sides, while not as tall, and the mat itself, were more rigid and fit the space much tighter. ANy water that might have leaked through the mounting holes int eh WT's never created anywhere near the mess that the un-covered area from the Husky's has resulted in.

Overall, I'm not horribly disappointed, these will do, and I'm not replacing them or selling them. I'll use them and keep shampooing and vacuuming a couple times a year to try and keep that spot from getting worse.

If I'm ever in need of this kind of mat for another car in the future, I think I'll stick with Weathertech even at the higher cost.

With 4 payments left on my Prius, and it just passing 100k, I'm planning on getting a new set of WeatherTech's for the front this fall.

I have some rubber mats in my 4runner that might be factory, they say 4Runner on them and fit the factory hooks. They don't cover what the WT's cover but it's good enough that I'm not compleeld to replace them.
 
I have no experience with the WT, but I have Husky fronts with no complaints. The drivers side pin the floor and screw down with plastic nuts. The passenger side does not but they fit well enough not to move.
 
Had my WT's for 5 years, best $200 I ever spent. I had them in both my 03 4Runner and moved them to the 08 when I traded in the 03. Love them
 
Bought the WT for both our 4runner and Tundra. Very satisfied with them in both vehicles. Worth every penny when dealing with kids or mud/snow/sand. Contains spills well.
 
I've got husky and my dads got weather tech in his tundra. the rise on the edges of the husky liners keeps more crap on the mat rather than in the carpet, but the weathertechs look better IMO but its form vs function
 
I had the Husky's in my 2006 RAV4. Didn't realize how "cheap" the fit was until I got WT's in my Sienna, Venza and now in my T4R. Never going to bother wasting my money again. You really do get what you pay for with WT products. Just wait for a sale or watch for them on CL. There is a tan set right now in my area.
 
I have had both and i like the weather tech better. WT holds its shape better and has a better fit and style. the husky's were okay but i woulda only paid half of the weather tech price. the lip on the outer edge is bigger. But, it makes the fit look generic and catches when people get in. husky even thought it was wrong and redesigned them for the runner. the diamond plate was terrible looking.
 
I have weathertech mats in both my 4runner and tundra, they're good. The cargo area mat in the 4runner is a bit flimsy but it seems like that's par for the course.

could you post a pic of the fasteners? i can't seem to find one.

right now i'm thinking WT up front/mid and husky in the rear....my truck would have a mullet.:tongue1:

i really like how the husky cargo liner fits on top of the folding shelf.

I have the husky liners and they work great. Can't go wrong with either. I have had both types in my trucks and they both do the job, went with Husky this time as they were on sale on amazon when I was looking to purchase.
