I used to believe that Weathertech was a stand up company that stood behind their products, but that sure is not the case.

I have their wind deflectors (front/back and sunroof) on my 2004 4Runner. I've had them maybe 3 or so years, not really sure.

For some reason the passenger front deflector has started to fade, it's almost clear now. It's very noticeable, and it's the only one doing this. The other 3 are just fine, and the sunroof are fine.

So there is something wrong with this one deflector, a defect of some kind causing it to fade.

So I emailed Weathertech about it, thinking if they saw the pictures of it, they would cover it, no problem.

Well got a response back, they don't even want to see the pictures, here is their response.

They expect me to fork over another $27 to get a replacement.

So just wanted to warn anyone who wants to buy anything from Weathertech. Their warranty is crap!!!

I've had the no name el cheapos from the auto parts store never fade on my last 4Runner. So I thought paying the extra for Weathertech meant I would never have any problems what so ever, and if I did. They would take care of it. So much for that!

Here are some images to show what's happening. Keep in mind my 4Runner is parked in the garage most of the time too!! So it's not sitting out in the sun everyday.

ya, I've replied back asking to have it sent to a manager, and I attached the pictures.

There really is no excuse for it to fade like that, especially since Weathertech is so much more expensive compared to the no name stuff.

If I get a response, I'll let post it here.

I thought Weathertech stuff had a lifetime warranty, but according to the email they sent, it's only 1 year.

Hardly worth the extra $ that it costs to buy Weathertech.

According to them they are sticking to their warranty. Unless it is stated it is lifetime I really don't see you getting a replacement.

I do however feel for you. Their stuff is pretty expensive.

I don't see me getting a replacement either, I'm just so shocked by how crappy a warranty their stuff actually has!

That's why I'm posting this here, for others know that just because they cost almost double then everyone else, don't expect it to last longer, or the warranty to be better.

At least they are willing to split up a set to save you some money... I would call, not email, and talk to someone directly. It is much easier to blow off someone via email than it is over the phone. That way you can also move up the chain directly and know you are speaking to someone who might make a difference.

Got an Update!

They are going to send me a new deflector, he stated that what the first CSR said is correct. But this one time they would take care of my faded deflector.

So I'm happy that they are going to fix it, and I really hope this doesn't happen to any of my other deflectors.

Still not sure why this would happen in the first place, the truck is in the garage most the time, and I never used any type of chemicals or anything on them.

their prices are why I bought the ones off ebay. I can buy 3-4 sets for what they charge......

Definitely BS on not replacing a defective product regardless of time past warranty. I have weathertech products on my car and my gf's car. My experience is usaully that the extra money is compensated by great customer service but I see that isn't the case. I don't think this is a good time to leave your customers hanging. . .

Luckily I have the in-channel ones, so they just pop out.

Hmm...I have those too, but mine came with 3M tape.
