Weathertechs with a clutch pedal - experiences?

I have a 1997 with a manual shift. Sometimes the floor mat slides under the clutch pedal and it is hard to start (the clutch start button is not sufficiently depressed). So I yank it back up and away we go. But I have worn a hole in the driver's mat and was thinking about Weathertechs. However, they look bulky and I don't want them to be in the way under the clutch pedal.

Any experiences here? Or thoughts on favorite alternatives?

When I first got my weathertechs the pedal would catch on the edge of the mat but only when pushed in 100%. And it never stopped the pedal from returning.

I fixed the issue with a pocket knife, didn't even remove that much material. I wouldn't let such an easily fixable problem dissuade you. Even with the small amount removed they still have better coverage than anything I've seen.

I need a mat that goes up a bit since I often have snowy boots on. If you don't need that and don't want that, Husky makes one's that are cheaper

I’ve had Weathertechs in my manual 2000 since I got it in 2015. I have over 100k miles driven with them and no issues. In fact, they were swapped from my 1996 (automatic) into the 2000 so they have a couple years in that vehicle too. They’re super durable. The hook on the factory carpet holds the driver’s mat in place so I’ve never had it catch on the clutch pedal. No experience with any other model specific floor mat brands in this platform, but I’ve always wondered how the Husky Liners compare.

I have the Weathertech generic trim-to-fit mat on my drivers side. It is anchored to the existing hook and has never moved.

I don't know about the Weathertech mats and pedal interference, but I installed a short piece of wire connecting the two poles of the clutch pedal switch years ago. I park it in neutral and use the hand brake. I never depress the clutch pedal when I start.

While I would never recommend relying on only the parking brake, I absolutely think the WeatherTechs are worth it.
Make 'em fit. Fill 'em up! Best interior addition since '99 cupholders.

Could be worse - the FACTORY floor mats on my '89 Camry (got a couple of NOS sets ~10 years back) interfere with the clutch pedal in that, and there is no clip on the floor either to make sure it is perfectly in place.

I trimmed a bit on the rear Weathertechs to allow better rear heater airflow even though I never use the rear heater... The fronts are great and fit perfect, though I have an auto so I can't comment on the question for the OP.

I trimmed it down to clear the clutch pedal....but then it was hooking onto my boot....I almost got into accidents having my boot caught! (very tready boots)
I trimmed it way down, so they great now. I'm using a bungie cord looped around seat legs to keep it from wallering up under the pedals.

I haven't had any issues with the clutch pedal catching on the edge of my Weathertechs or not being able to depress the clutch fully.

There is a way to raise the cut-in for the clutch switch. I had to do it a few years ago when I replaced the entire carpet set with the optional extra backing. I forgot exactly how I did it but I think it involved putting a furniture bumper with adhesive in exactly the right place. I can say it cured the problem totally for what is now at least five years.

Some diligent searching will lead you to the answer.
