Hello guys,

I'm pretty new to offroading and I was wondering if there might be some sort of (fairly popular) website where people would add trails so the community would have access to them ?

Sorta like Motorcycle Roads... (link below)

Motorcycle Roads | Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com

I'm sure it's out there, I might just be missing it :)

Thanks
Some of the trail availability/access depends on where you're located.

I'm in the Mid-Atlantic. Historically there hasn't historically been a good resource for consolidated data so we started mapping, consolidating, and publishing route info ourselves at outboundoverland.com. Search in the offroading subforum for more info on that.

Generally, the further west you go the more well-documented trail systems are through blogs and books, etc.

Not necessary exactly what you were looking for but hope it helps.

Thanks for the response !

I cannot believe that there isn't a consolidated data base with the number of offroaders out there !

And yes, plenty of data for west side of the country... south seems a lot more desolated !

Thanks again !

Over the past few decades, many places that were once open to offroading have been shutdown, closed or heavily restricted. A major contributing factor to this has been over use, causing damage to trails. This has resulted in people trying to protect their wheeling spots by keeping quite about them and not making them public. Go to any local 4wheeling club website/forum and ask about nearby trails and you will usually be met with silence. They don't advertise them so they can keep them from being closed.

Makes sense.

Sucks. But makes sense.
