Weight distribution bar for 97 T4R recommended?

The manual for my 97 Limited T4R does not recommend installing a weight distribution bar when towing. The RV dealer and other travel trailer owners have convinced my spouse that we need one. Should we ignore the manual and install one? We are towing a 3500-3700lb dry weight travel trailer. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Apologies if this is covered elsewhere in the forum -- am new to the site. Thanks in advance!

If the hitch receiver is not mounted to the frame of the vehicle but is mounted to the rear cross member it can twist your frame and cause irreparable damage to it. If you check it and it is mounted to the frame rails you should be good with a weight distributing hitch setup and I strongly suggest it if towing a travel trailer also a good anti-sway bar setup is strongly suggested especially since it is a smaller tow vehicle.
