Weird electrical issue with fog lights

Hey guys, I did this mod: (grounding a relay pin)

a while back and it works fine. The fogs work with highs, lows whatever. I had some spare time today and I was going to wire them up for independent use, but they don't work when the relay isn't grounded.

The fogs won't turn on with the relay in place. I tried a different relay, same thing. Won't turn on no matter what, unless that pin is grounded.

What the heck is going on?

What the heck is going on?

There are 2 interlocks you need to overcome in order to make the fog lights come on. You have to provide a ground to the switch that is constant, not present only when the headlights are on Low and you also have to provide power to the relay at other times besides when the headlight switch is on.
I wanted the fog lights to come on anytime the Ign. switch is on using the original switch so I disconnected the blue wire from the dimmer switch and grounded it to the chassis so the fog lights can be switched on no matter what position the dimmer switch is in. I also wanted to be able to turn it on when the Ign. switch is on, not just when the headlights are on, so I disconnected the side of the relay coil going to the headlight fuse and connected a wire going to the Ign. switch instead. If you have grounded one side of the relay coil you still need to provide power to the other side to activate it, either from another switch or the Ign. switch depending on how you want it to work.

Here are my thoughts.
I want my fog lights to come on whenever I have the fog light switch on while the ignition is on, but also having auto headlights I like the current feature I have where the headlights stay on for like 30 seconds or so after the ignition is turned off(if on low beams the fogs stay on too) if you do the famous JA's fog light mod you loose that...

What I am going to do for now until I, or someone else helps me figure out is take 2 diodes, have the +12 coming from the initial pin 2 on the fog relay and the +12 coming from the heated seats relay so that way I wont have any backfeeding going on and the lights will come on with the ignition sw and also stay on like norm with the auto lights...

Any ideas Im missing to make this work better?

Here are my thoughts.

Wire your fog lights to a new switch that bypasses the blinker stalk all together. +12 from IGN ON to switch, switch to relay, relay to fog lights.
