Weird frozen caliper question

Was out playing in deep snow lots of sliding around and a number of opportunities for the VSC to kick in as well as traction control. When I got home could smell burning brakes. Problem is never really used my brakes. The right rear rim was very warm to touch and was the source of the smell. All the calipers, rotors and pads have been replaced within the last 6 months. Is it possible that the VSC never released the right rear brake? If so what should I look for? Any other suggestions as where to start looking for the issue.

Im pretty sure the right rear tire is the dominant tire in spinning, so traction control is going to try and stop spinning that tire by applying the brakes to that wheel, so this might be why that wheel is warm er then the others and smells like burnt brakes

Forgot to mention that I have a truetrac in the rear as well. Not sure if that matters.

Now the plot thickens, did you hear and or feel the abs working? Kinda curious if it would still try and apply the brakes to the right rear if both rear tires are spinning at the same speed but the YAW rate sensor is say aplly brakes to the right rear?

Yes felt the the VSC working hard every time I was power sliding around a corner.

Try jacking up the right rear and see if you can rotate the tire, this would comfirm if indeed if the caliper is seized or not, if not than the issue of the heat buildup was from the VSC and or traction control working to keep that wheel from spinning.

This might be a little difficult sense he doesn't have an open diff, its going to wanna spin both tires the same direction meaning the ring and pinion are going to turn then the drive shaft so it will need to be in neutral and by the time you get all that rotating it might be hard to feel if the caliper is dragging.

After reading on how all the nannies work i still think it was vsc trying to control your fun that heated up the right rear

New info. Issue seems to be electronic. Drove truck today with no issues for 50 miles. Had to slam on breaks issue reappeared. Shut truck off restarted and problem went away. Any thoughts?

Could you feel the brakes dragging at all? When you had to slam on the brakes did any of the wheels lock up and abs kick in?

No cant feel brake drag at all. And no the abs did not kick in just a really hard stop. Could there be a valve that is getting stuck?

check that the brake pad are not binding new pads or old it can happen..

the brake pads should move easy no tools required if they are stuck and need tool to move remove then you may have to file the backing plate of the pad since I have had to do this many times before on new install of pads. more china crap quality control.

I just had to do this on a dodge challenger right rear pad stuck. we also replaced the rotor since it did wear it down a bit.
