Weird noise at full stop then go

My girlfriends roomate has a 1999 Toyota 4runner. Last night she was out driving and everytime she came to a stop sign and went to go her rear end would lock for a second. Then catch and slide to the right. I rode with her tonight and it did the same thing. Almost sounds like a metal on metal sound. Could her fluid be low in the rear end and causing it to lock the gears?

You might have the same problem with mine but mine was different. When i slow down to stop at this stop light, i accidently hit a small pothole or bump, and my brakes start screeching. Until 1-2 ft later, i completely stop. I've posted this problem before and someone told me that it is normal? I don't understand why it's normal when i wanted to stop immediately but yea. Hope this helps answer your question.

Your problem seems like the abs might be kicking on when you hit a bump. Which is normal...This would cause your brakes to engage or pulse.
