Weird overheating issue

Came home from dropping a buddy off, shut er off for about 15 min than had to go out again with the gf,
as soon as I turned it on it was above the normal middle point for the Coolant temp sensor
I immediatley shut it down, and touched the top hose it was the hottest I'd ever felt it
I touched the rad, it was the hottest I've ever felt it.
I checked all the fluids and the resevoirs no sign of a BHG, and than I opened the cap up and let it cool for 10 min.
Than ran again with no problem
That was weird and makes me wonder.
What is the interval for a waterpump/timing belt re/re and what is the average cost for this job in Canadian?

BTW this thread or discussion has been terribly boring lately not to be a douche but come on, post some pics send some videos SOMETHING!!

Issues like that often come from something as simple as the thermostat. You may want to start there if the problem continues. Otherwise, check the fan and see if it's running properly.

As far as I know, the water pump should outlast the timing chain, and if you had a pump issue, it wouldn't start running fine again right away, it would overheat again.

As I think about it more, check the fan. It will cause the engine to overheat at slow speeds or idle, but not at highway speeds...

I've checked the fan as far as I can see it is functioning.
When I first start it up it runs for about 45seconds to 1 minute, than goes off. Although if I rev it up sharply when the fan is running it does screech from the front end, and it doesnt sound like a belt squeal

Either way, I've ordered the water pump, stat, timing belt, tensioner, and will be doing it as I have put about 30,000kms if not more in the last 5 months.

My guess would be the thermostat.
