weird rattling noise on 08 4runner

hey all,
last month i bought an 08 v6 urban runner. currently it has 480miles on the odometer so it hasn't been driven much.

when i bought the car, i noticed a weird rattling noise when the car is around 1500-2200 rpms. it sounds like its coming from directly underneath me.

it only happens when im in gear, if im in neutral, the noise doesn't happen. when im driving, no matter what speed, if i hit 1500-2200rpm, i'll hear the rattling noise.

its hard to explain. initially some service tech guy there said it might be some gasket or something. i took my car to the dealership and after a few days of them looking at it, they said that rattling noise is normal and that all other v6 4runners exhibit the same noise.

i haven't driven another 4runner to see but i might take another 4runner out this week to see if i hear the noise.

any1 else have a noise or problem like this?

i also have an 08 4runner and do not have that noise and have never heard about it before

I had a similar problem with my 08 urbanrunner. First I thought is was the skid plate that was loose but the dealer said a rock got in there and said it was rattiling around. The noise was still there and after a week in the shop they realized it was the emergency brake...they said it wasn't aligned and was loose and know the problem is gone.

:bs: I don't have any rattles from underneath my seat. I have the occassional moonroof rattle.

so i went to the dealership today and i drove another 08 urban runner and it sounded jsut like mine.. just doesn't sound like a normal accelerating car. none of my other cars do it lol.

i wish i could record the sound somehow.

i initially took my 4runner to the dealer cuz i was getting steering wheel vibration when going 50+ mph. the steering wheel was moving/shaking 1/4". so apparently they had to rebalance all the tires.

i just drove it home and it now the car seems to drift to the right. might be just the road perhaps.. im not sure. i'll have to drive it around more and see.

what does the moonroof rattle sound like? i always keep the moonroof closed and the shade cover closed as well..
