ok just got done lifting the 4runner, only went 2" front coil spacer, had it laying around, was supposed to be a 3" but thats another story, anyhow, after getting it done, driving it feels like i am hydroplaning when im not, rechecked everything, even used a diff drop, have absolutely no freakin idea what the heck is going on here, everything looks fine, nothing loose, or tweeked out of place, really stumped, going for an alignment tomorrow morning, see what pops up there, maybe it really is just out of alignment, hoping so, but ideas are welcome, thanks

You need an alignment

Adding the lift throws your toe out way off... which really really effects the way the car handles. Alignment = fix problem. :)

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I was having the same problem. Just did my lift and the steering feels sloppy. I was thinking it was the bushings but I am going to get an alignment ASAP!

isn't this like in big letters at the bottom of the faq and in every write up we've ever seen? :bigok:

I thought so :)

When i lifted mine it was obvious that it needed an alignment. The tires were screeching on all the painted lines and smooth concrete driveways while i drove it over to get an alignment....

Well problem solved !!! Hopefully this helps some other people as well.

Sitting at the shop right now waiting for them to do the alignment. I was planning on getting it done but wasn't aware of the huge effect the new suspension would have on the alignment.

On another note, you know those pesky bolts on the top of the rear shocks that are a pain to get to. I just asked my shop if they could tighten them when they do the alignment. Told me no problem, might cost my an extra $10 bucks. Food for thought for those of you who couldn't access them like me.

I know many people complain about this, but i have never had an issue getting to those top bolts

since we're on the subject, firestone lifetime alignment, $150 good for as long as you own the truck, not a bad thing, i've been in 5 times in the last 9 months with no complaint, i'm buying the guys in the shop lunch next time i go in...

try to find a firestone that seems to have a good crew in it, i also get nothing else done there except the alignment

yeah kinda knew it was an alignment, not first time at rodeo, just with my tacoma, my brother and i did the alignment, didnt think we did that great of a job, but never had to take it in to a shop tires worn even for the 3 years i had it too, so when this happened i thought something was way to far out there to be an alignment but i guess thats just the way it feels when you need one that bad. I just really wanted to know if there were any other related problems people were having other than just an alignment, but from what i am reading i guess there isnt. I appreciate all the responses, good luck to everyone on finding a good alignment shop, lol lord knows i will need it around here.

Had my alignment done. Drives like it did before the lift! I don't know how on Earth people rear that drivers side rear shock bolt. My hands barely even fit to touch the darn thing. Either way the shop did it for free so now I have piece of mind. Moral of the story, if you put on a lift get an alignment done ASAP.
