weird transmission noise...

got 06 t4r 4WD SR5 and it's about 3 months old now. this problem i'm about to describe happened probably about 5 times. and it seems to be random.

when i shift gear from R to D, such as pulling out from the driveway, i can hear what sounds like a rapid bicycle chain winding noise from the bottom of the car, presumably from the transmission. and i felt like i'm losing power. when that happened, i immediately applied brake, and waited a few seconds, and then i get power back.

however, this is very troubling since the car is so new. as i mentioned, it happened only about 5 times since new.

do i have a defective transmission and/or drivetrain? i'm thinking about taking the car to the dealership and they will probably want me to reproduce the problem. but since it occurs at random times, i'm not so sure about reproducing it...

any 06 owners having the same problem???

Sounds like the HAC kicking in. Are you coming to a complete stop from reverse or are you still moving slightly backwards and then going into drive?

If you can find a steep hill, come to a stop and then lift off the brake pedal. The truck will actually hold itself there for a few seconds. You'll hear some noises and a light on your dash will come on (dash light looks like some squiggly lines and it is yellow).

I have read similar posts here before. I remember that some said that if you shift from reverse to neutral and pause for a few seconds before shifting to drive, the problem goes away.

Listen to some other vehicles as you drive around town. Have your window down and listen to some other cars pulling up to a stop light. I have heard that sound your explaining in other vehicles as the tranny shifts back into first just before they come to a full stop. It may be just the way it sounds. My wife's old protege did this when coming to a stop and shifting into drive since it was new. Sounds like a chain being dragged across the ground kinda.
