Welding bolt-on sliders

Could I weld on my bolt-on sliders for added reinforcement?

They are pretty tight right now but I know first major rock they might come loose. Is this a good a idea?

Technnically wouldn't it be stronger than normal weld on sliders as there are more points of contact?

Standard only attatch on the side where the bolt on could be welded on the side, bottom, and back of the frame.

More secure? YES

Stronger..? Not really. You've reinforced your attachment point, assuming that is the weak link in the equation. If it were, then you'd be making another point the weak link, like say the out-runner tubes on sliders. So while an impact or force wouldn't cause them to become un-attached, you'd risk bending your out-runner tubes.

I hope that made sense. It's sort of like how lawn mower blades are actually secured with a small key or pin that is designed to shear when it's over-come with resistant force. Easier to replace a small pin than to replace a blade, shaft or motor.

If you want to weld them, by all means go for it! Couldn't hurt unless you ever wanted to remove them. But know that bolted connections can be designed to be every bit as strong as welded connections. Just my two cents. Hope that helps.

So basically if they break as is it will be at the bolt. Which means they'll be easier to replace. I can just unbolt them. If I weld them on it'll break at the tube which will be harder to replace.

They are more likely to bend or buckle then break when welded, but you really need to be doin something fun to get to that point. As for repair, a BFH and a little heat should take care of it.

It comes down to how likely u are to damage your sliders and with how much force. If u break the bolts, your sliders will be less damaged but body damage may be done. If they are welded, you have a better chance to protect the body but will need to cut a grind to replace the sliders.

IMO weld it, sliders are cheaper to replace then what could be a lot of body repairs.
