Well the inevitable happened to me

The wife needed running boards for a while until the baby comes. So found a set (not specific to type) that fit and threw them on last night. Don’t have any pictures of them but they are deezee off of a 2012 SR5. Just something to get her by for now.

It's alright it will be about the kiddo for the next couple of years, but hey that gives you time to save up for some nice sliders and you can get them when he/she is capable of jumping off the steps. It's really cute to watch my 5 and 2 year old kids be self sufficient climbing on board so I'm kind of I'm glad I still kept mine this long . I'm jumping on the Shrockworks GB for the plated flat rock sliders, being local helps with the savings.
 
The inevitable seems to be coming to this forum and being bored to tears... I find it really hard to read these days in general.

I also notice more 5th gens than JKs on the road now.... Could this be a coincidence?

I kinda agree, I don’t post much, but i’ve been a lurker since around December 2016. I find myself viewing less and less threads. But I think the reason is really that the 5th gens have been around so long we know pretty much everything about them, and minus a few here, nobody has done anything major to their vehicles. There are only so many tire/slider/bilstein threads I can view. It’s great when you’re researching, but there’s not really any new information to give on those topics. Hence why I haven’t started a build thread, you can look at my sig and know exactly what my vehicle looks like lol.
 
One time I was at the grocery store and thought I forgot my debit card PIN number.. but then I didn’t.

To the OP, some automatic running boards could up the excitement level for you a bit .

Really? I still see no kidding, at least 2 or 3 each way on my 4 mile commute. And they're always different ones. JKs are the new bro vehicle.
 
I think the biggest disappointment here is that the OP didn't use this as an excuse to get some sliders instead.

I think there is a lot of truth to this, While I am not part of the original guard, I have been around long enough to see a major swing in the forum content and topics.

Nothing against the OP, I choose to click but it is this shift that has me reading less and less of the threads. I think 4runner popularity has soared (sales data reflects this yes?) and as such we have a much bigger % of folks who are more the IG type folks then the DIY - nothing wrong with that and there is a huge crowd that loves living through others by browsing IG, I am just not one of them. I love the good DIY threads or unique mod threads, can even live with the random answered 100x times threads but its the "hey look at me I have two AR-15's and a 4runner" photos that are a drag.

A 4runner drives like a lumbering beast coupled with the fact that 99% of my driving is on the road 1/2 the enjoyment of ownership is the community forum - for me. Even considered a Disco II for a bit a few months ago but figured I like wrenching when I want to, not when I have to. #If it doesn't leak its empty.
 
WoW, that's it? I thought you had that inevitable crash we all worry about. Glad it wasn't that. My 2012 SR5 had running boards on when I bought it. First thing that came off!
 
I did not want them but did not have s choice. They are a requirement for my 8yr old. She needs that extra step. If there are visions of removing them soon that might not happen.
