Went in for an oil change, came out with a new Trail!

Pretty much what happened. While in for an oil change I was talking to the same guy I purchased my 2012 Trail from four years ago. Well... all I can say is the trade-in value of these T4Rs is insane. I literally could not say no to the deal I was offered.

So out with the Blue and in with the Alpine White.

Added Duratracs, some blackout plastidip and a 1/2 Toytec spacer lift before it had 100km on it. A few other small things here and there and presto! All is good! Actually better than before.

I have to say that Toyota has refined the Trail. The suction sound from the brake peddle has been eliminated. They have also added a lot of sound deadener to the new Trail. The doors don't make that hollow metal sound when they are closed with force and overall it is much quieter inside now. The new Softex Leather is very comfortable and the seats seem to offer better support. The new gauge cluster is nice too. The new Trail has nav which never interested me, I have my own Nav system, but the display on the centre consol is a nice upgrade. No more party button though . Stereo sounds the same. No more sliding cargo tray either. Which sucks because I actually used and liked mine. The fender mounted radio antenna has been replaced with dual antennas that are printed on the cargo windows. besides these changes its pretty much the same. Very solid ride with less noise. :clap2:

There is an OEM slider you can get. I think I recall it costing like $350 or something similar.

So party mode is gone? Does it have an amp? We use the party mode on my wife's 2012 trail or it sounds crappy. Did you use party mode? If so, you're saying it sounds like when the button is pushed?

Its just a piece of black screen. I have always been a BIG believer of protecting the rad. Its my poor mans grill. $2.00 for a custom grill! LOL. (I still have to do the top parts.)

Yes, the stereo sounds like my old one when the Party Mode button was ON.

Congrats! Great feedback. I am waiting for my 16 TEP to come in, and will be upgrading from my also blue 2011 trail. Your observations confirm what I found and am looking forward to a more refined Trail.

Well they comp'd me the oil change, and I hope my new one came with new oil. It looked clean when I checked to make sure it was full before I drove off the lot. Lol.

Very nice rig, I've got something fairly similar in the garage. It's crazy how good these things hold their value. I sometimes see prices for used 4runners the same as new.

Nice looking 4Runner. If you got the Softex and the sunroof you got the Trail Edition Premium.

I see you have those running boards. Those are real damage enhancers. They'll bend up into the rocker panel the first time you hit them on the rocks or a dirt high point. You need some beefy rock sliders.

Brake noise 98% gone. There is still a tiny psst. But it is very low in volume and very short compared to the squishhhhhhhhhhhhh, that happened on my 2012.

In Canada it is just called a Trail. No options for KDSS, sunroof, softex or running boards. All trails come equipped with this stuff in the north. Makes things simpler I guess.
