Wet driver floor?

I also have weathertech matts (the laser measured form fitted ones) and came here to see if there was an explination. I have had them installed for over a year now and the truck has seen many a heavy rain storm with no issues, been glad the mats were there!
But!
One day I parked my truck nose down on an incline and leaning a little to the drivers side ergo the drivers foot well being the lowest point in the cabin and low and behold it rains mild to heavy for a few hours I go out to my truck and there's like two inches of standing water under the pedals.
Wtf?
I carefully pulled the mat up, dumped the water and checked my floor carpet, it was dry.
Never had that happen since.
All seals and interior pieces were dry as well, carpet underneath was dry. Never did figure it out.

Tacoma's have an issue with body seams leaking, maybe that's your issue too? Also, is your windshield stick?

I just had this problem and found out very quickly what it was.
First, pull your carpet back from the driver side area there by your feet. On the left side, where you rest your foot on that "pedestal", check to see if it's all rusted there - where water cold get in.
Another way to check this is look inside your driver side wheel well on the right side. There may or may not be a rust spot (hole) where water, salt, sand may have blasted through a small hole that, over time, has grown.
Also, when you have your carpet pulled back, check the floor plugs. You have two of them under the driver's feet area. Check to see if they are rusted/leaking.
Let me know what you found.

Don't see any rust holes anywhere when pulling carpet up but it certainly is wet and gross. Smells like an aquarium
If you have a sunroof, that is your problem. 4 drain holes, one in each corner that need to be blown own with compressed air. Even one plugged will cause problems...

Could be water from leaking from sunroof, seals as shown, door seals. Are you sure its water ? Could be coolant from leaking heater core or if you have a manual the master cylinder could be leaking onto the floor board.

Every time I've seen a 4Runner with wet carpet or a moldy smell that was for sale, they all had some crappy Wal-Mart audio aisle crap and they were all fed through the grommet like in the first pic.

My moist driver side mat was caused by a clogged front windshield drain. After clearing it out both driver and passenger sides of dirt, mud, and pine needles that had collected over 15 years my problems were gone. You should be able to peek into the bottom of the fender (near the bottom of your door) to see if there is any accumulation. I'll try to post a picture for the location I'm talking about soon.

YUP! Both of mine had the same issue and it's because of the holes in my gromet... Goober that up real good and I was good to go.

Yeah, I have Damp carpet problems in mine as well and it's either a rusty windshield framing area, a hole in the main firewall grommet or my Sunroof drains.
Or maybe a combination of all three.. who knows.
