Wet under weather tech floor mat

Today I go to just get the dirt out of the weather tech mat in driver side. I lift up the mat and I see moisture/water on the bottom of the mat and the carpet is little wet. I don't think it soaked all the way through but I'm curious what Tia could be from. This is first time ever. !!! Under all the other weather tech mats it's dry. Anyone had this happen ? Maybe I need new door weather strip?

I have Weather Tech mats, no running boards and my weather strip on the bottom is torn up - never had this happen.

Have you drilled any holes to run wire against the firewall? Pretty popular location is the area in front of the driver.

Haven't drilled any holes in the firewall. But do have quite a bit of wires going through OEM gromet.

Heater core ? This is on the driver side. And I don't have rear heat as I have it disconnected.

So frustrating. If not one thing then another. I'm gonna have to keep and eye. I don't think it went through or under the carpet. Because the carpet has like a rubber seal. So I doubt water will soak throug. And it's not a lot. Gonna try taking the plastic pillars out and pulling a little bit of carpet out. I checked under the seat it's self and it's dry. I was brushing my hand around the tranny housing and it's dry. Only under driver feet

You have a sunroof? Make sure the drains aren't plugged.

Yea I have sunroof. But I though the drain tube goes under then passanger side ? Or ami confusing it with something else.

Do I open my sunroof and blow it out with air compressor ?

My money is on the wires you have going through the grommet on the firewall. If you don't silicon around the wires water can run down the wire into the cabin. Has it rained recently or have you gone through a car wash?

Mine did same thing. Get hose and run slowly on engine side of firewall bet water coming in where u have group of wires !! I had to silicon both sides of gromet and wires. Just as Dezert4runner said.

So I pulled the carpet back without taking the seats. For some reason it's a paint in the ass to take these seats out. In other words, I had to weld a new nut because it broke on drive side and passanger side lol. Anyways.

It was wet under the carpet it self. FML. So aggravated!!!! Never I ever had this problem. All the wires are bone dry. And no puddle near the water at all. I look at the gromet and its bone dry. If it leaked through grommet I would assume wires would be wet or at least a water trail.

However I do have 2 4gaugw wires and 5 12 gauge wires going through it. But no water around the wires, or the little V indent where the factory wires sit near the rocker pannel. Just under the feet area.

I did was the car yesterday.... Assuming it was from that. Did not use no power washer.

As posted above, have you looked at the sunroof drains?

Kind of a long shot since it's not on the passenger side, but is your A/C draining properly?

How do I check ?

As far as the sunroof. Do I open it up and look around there ?

The water leak may be caused by the AC condensing unit. Have it checked.

They weren't ever wet unless it was raining hard but the water from the window would fall into a channel and then that dripped straight onto the wires going through the firewall. Spray some water on your windshield with the hood propped open and you'll probably see what I'm talking about. Probably just needs to be readjusted or silicone'd

Well, no but I think it happens over time and just collects under the mat without evaporating. It might not be leaking at the time you check it so the wires are dry but it is actually leaking. It's hard to say. I only found out cause I popped the hood while it was raining and saw water drip onto the wires and straight down through the grommet

Make sense why wires are dry. It never stops down the wire directly. So it never dripped into the V channel where the OEM wires sit. Hopefully RTV will fix it and I'll keep an eye on it.

I RTV SILICONE the crap out of it. Hopefully it will fix it. I could drill a new hole for the wires but I hopefully I won't need to.

Most people use the clutch pedal hole. But I can't. It's 5 speed.

Under further investigation the water would travel down one of the wires and then drip on to the rubber mat. Thus explains why the wires on the side were dry.

Have you guys used RTV to fix this problem ?

You can use compressed air but if there is a blockage it may dislodge the tubes. It does look you found the issue but for future reference, I have used trimmer line and the two front drains exit right around the back of the front wheel wells (you will see the drains once you retract the sunroof). Google the rear drains are they are much harder to discribe and access.
