Wetsanded My Headlights & Foglights ***56k Warning***

When I bought my 4th gen, I knew from the beginning that the headlights and foglights needed some attention. The headlights weren't bad but they still needed restoration...lol!

I even managed to get the turn signals/DRL's to have a glossy finish as well.

awesome job! Looks like its straight from the factory packaging. To be honest, at first, when I saw the before pics of the headlights, I didn't think the end results would be that noticeable but man was I wrong. Great work

Great job! But more importantly, who is the hottie in your avatar?

3M offers a system to spruce up the plastic. They use Trizact abrasives which sand the surface evenly saving you time as you polish.

The key is to protect the surface after doing this, as the sanding removes the last bit of protection the raw plastic had, or repeat every season.

Has nothing to do with "old days" and everything to do with where one lives. I, for example, will never be able to get cable - I live on a county line between 2 competing cable companies, and neither will provide it to us, ever, they've both stated as much over the past 12 years. Our telco finally brought us DSL in 2004 (House was built in 1997). And I live less than 20 miles from downtown Raleigh NC (our state capital).

As for DSL, you have to be within a certain distance of a telco CO in order to be able to get enough signal to get DSL. There will be people on dialup until reliable and *affordable* 2-way satellite internet service is available. I don't even think a 2-way sat internet service even exists yet. The sat service that is out there now requires a dialup connection for upstream comms - and is far from cheap even then.

I've wet sanded my Tundra's lens covers a couple of times by hand now, and they do look better/clearer, but have never had them come out that clear.

Do share some details: Did you do these by hand? Did you follow this up with one of the abrasive "glass" polishes? What grit of sandpaper did you use? What did you coat it with after? (They will fog right back up if you don't put a coat of something on them - found that out the first time I sanded mine.)

Why is it Toy's lens covers do this? None of my GMs have ever done this - yet my Tundra does it and I know my T4R will down the road too.

Thanks for the tip on this! Going to try and do this over the weekend...after a few trips dirt road, your lights don't appear as clear as they used to be.
