Just got my Limited V8 yesterday...unbelievably happy with it other than a nice deep scratch on the front left fender....I think it is clear through the paint into the plastic...

This is the 3rd new vehicle in a row that has been delivered to me with damage of some kind....the new vehicle delivery gods are against me I think.. LOL

Fortunately it is not on metal, it is on that plastic thingy that surrounds the fender area...

Anyway, not sure what they are going to do about it...I took it home and took a better look at it and its not great...Going to talk to the salesman today...He says "We'll make it look as good as new"...I'm thinking, "It is new you knob"

I took my 07 Sport back for them to touch up the paint chips, scratches and such. The big problem was the water spots on the windshield, thick enough to feel it. All they had were suggestions for that. Razor blade and steel wool helped.

New trucks left outside and all they do is rinse them off. Too lazy to wipe things down. or dry off the glass. Yes, I filled out the Toyota survey after that. Razorblades and fine steel wool ,but there is still glass I must redo. 2100 miles on it now

I believe the fender flare comes painted. If that's correct, have the dealer order a new flare and replace the damaged one. Don't bother with them touching it up, it'll be visible especially since already know where the damage is.

Do you know for a fact that they come already painted? Because I was told that they come in primed and then they would have to paint it...

I accepted what they had to say about it but you can never be too careful with these dealers....

Yup, they come painted. See here. It's about $277 for the flare from Partznet. Well that (price) doesn't really matter (since it's on them), but that would be the best option IMO. I think the only non-metal body parts that require painting are bumpers for the 4Runner.

I could be totally off base, but I would say you're told they come primed so the dealer could just have the flare refinished by a body shop rather than replaced.
