What are your opinions?

What are your guys opinions on this 4runner. FS: 1998 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 Supercharged - Crashed w/ Clean Title - YotaTech Forums It's a guy over at Yotatech and he is selling a supercharged 98. I live 30 mins away from him and very tempted to check it out. I don't mind body damage, but frame damage is another issue.

I know that 185k isn't much for a 4runner, especially with a rebuilt top end, but how does the supercharger effect it?

I have asked a bunch of questions and hopefully get an answer. A lot the stuff that is messed up I would probably replace anyways on a 98 (headlights, bumper (maybe outdoorlogic?) and I have a sport hood).

What kind of price would be a reasonable offer? He is asking $4800, but I was thinking $4500 tops, more like $4300 if he would take it.
I really want to have another supercharger and he seemed to take care of his very well.

To me it sounds like he is preety straight forward with everything so thats a good thing obviously. I would want a pretty detailed list on what all is damaged and have a body shop look at the frame. After that, I guess it comes down to how cheap can you get parts? Tacoma Front End swap? :shrug:

Yeah taking it to a body shop would be number 1 item to attend to. I just get worried about the supercharger being on there for 4 years and it being 185k. I wouldn't be stressed to get everything painted as long as it drove fine. He has started a good build and has many things I was planning on doing anyways, tundra brakes and magnaflow 18. I might just go look at it and see if it is worth it.

Yeah 4800 is way too high, but I was hoping 4300 or lower depending on the damage. I found a fender for $100 and I have the hood, so it would depend whether there was frame damage or not.
Is 185k with a supercharger just too high of mileage? He said he had the top end rebuilt.

Not sure about the values where you're from, but if you can buy the parts for cheap, then I'd jump on it! Around here, you can pay up to $8000.00 for one of these with 280 000km on them! That's without body damage mind you, but still a good chunk of change!

Yeah the prices are high and in the bay area. There are deal sometimes, but they go fast. I might just go see it and make a decision from there if it is worth pursuing. The 185k just worries me and I would have to see when he did all of the maintenance on the 4runner. Really it depends on the amount of damage.

No I was swamped today. I like the idea of it, but I don't know if I have the time to put into fixing it. Plus it doesn't have an e locker and once again the mileage. If I didn't have a newborn I would probably play with the idea more. I will get my supercharger again.

I'd go for $4K, and ask to drive it for a week to watch for the possible leaks of seals from frame damage. NEVER listen to "trust" a seller! unless it's me:withstupid: JK but the damage doesn't look too bad. Hell a new hood, fender and Addicted Offroad bumper and all is good! A good week of beating the hell out of it will tell you everything you need to know.
