What blind spot mirrors do people use?

Hello all

I'm be getting a '17 TRD Off-road Premium soon. My better half has a '15 and I think the mirrors are similar. The mirrors are good, but they leave something to be desired.

I'm looking for advice / options for adding blind spot mirrors.

On my current '08 Wrangler I use 'Hercules Side Mirror - Auxiliary Car Mirror Offers Wide Angle View' and LOVE them. I can see my blind spots and even my rear wheel. I'm not so sure they would work well on the 4Runner's mirrors.

you can install Rav4 mirrors which have the built in wide angle mirror thing

i just use the $0.99 stick on round convex mirror in the bottom corner, works fine for me

I use the little round mirrors too. Especially when off road so i can see ground along both sides of vehicle.
 
I have been using the little round ones for years and I really like them. The are so cheap it would be crazy not to give them a shot first. You can always just take them off if you don't like them.

I've never used the little round ones. I've gotten a little spoiled with the ones on my Jeep. Off-roading is when I use them the most. I like to know how close to death I am.

Do the stick on ones come off somewhat easily? If I don't like them, I want to make sure I can get them off.

they will pop right off, worst case you may need some goo gone for some leftover adhesive
 
Outside mirrors

Most people set their outside rear view mirrors so they can see down the side of their rigs. WRONG! Set them so you barely see any part of your own rig, and then you'll be able to see what is coming up in your blind spot. And NEVER shift lanes without signalling. Worked for me since I first started driving, 67 years ago! - Ted
 
Not looking to debate mirror placement. Personally I'm not interested in how people align their mirrors. I do what works for me and you should do what works for you.

It sounds like the little stick on mirrors give a good view down the side and of the rear wheels. These are the two areas I'm most concerned with. For a few bucks its worth a try.
 
Even if you align your mirrors correctly so you have no blindspots, the convex mirrors are still helpful because they let you see your rear tires

I just started doing this a couple weeks ago myself and it absolutely works to eliminate blind spots. (Someone had posted a link about it on here in a post about why don't 4Runners have blind spot warning lights.) If you angle your side mirrors out far enough, you can see a car move from your rear view mirror into a side mirror without losing sight of them as they pass you. No blind spot.
Set your mirrors however you want, but just saying, this works.

Same, just go to autozone and get the cheap stick-ons, work well enough.

I've been told by a friend's son who took a course, that we actually aren't adjusting our side mirrors correctly. They need to be further out than expected (not seeing the side of the body of the car). Coutrse taught by police officers.

It does work, but too old to change habits.
 
I would go the rav4 mirror mod or round convex mirrors.
Those other things would look like a POS on your T4R! :bash:

just sayin!
 
Ive seen a couple things that show where the Rav-4 mirrors which include a blindspot section are a direct swap, been meaning to make the swap myself.
