What Brake Pads Are You Using?

Thinking about Akebono ProACT ceramic :driving:

Brand Rotors?

How are they?

I am ordering some EBC rotors and I have EBC Green Stuff pads for the fronts. I will let you know what I think of them once I have them installed. Toyota is out of its freaking mind if they think I am going to pay $150 for a rotor...good luck!:bonk:

I got brake pads, rotors, and calipers from NAPA (front only). Seems to be holding up pretty good.

Still using stock at 33k...they are fine and I will replace with stock as well.

OEM Pads. Centric Premium OEM equivalent front rotors ($52 each @ RockAuto), stock rear rotors.

Just did the replacement last month at 60K. Front pads still had something between 1/3 and 1/2 thickness left, rears were still 2/3-3/4 remaining. Only did the swap because I got tired of living with a "warped" rotor, most likely warped the last time I let the dealer rotate the tires a couple of years ago. Otherwise, original front rotors only had the barest hint of wear.

rotating your tires wont warp your rotors....so that wouldnt have cause the problem.

Sorry, thought the inference was fairly obvious. Numerous articles suggest the heavy handed use of air guns is one of the leading causes of warped rotors. Dealer service guys used air guns for tire rotations...I use a hand held torque wrench...dealer did rotations up to the 30K service and I'm the only person to touch them since...I'm easy on brakes as evidenced by the pad material remaining at 60K so it's not likely I ever overheated the pads/rotors to the point of deformation or pad to rotor material transfer...new rotors, braking now silky smooth. Circumstantial evidence (I did say "...most likely...") strongly suggests one of the dealer services applied too much torque doing a tire rotation before I got frustrated at their overall carelessness and started doing all of my own maintenance again.

Unfortunately, I'll have to let the dealer do the timing belt eventually...it's way above my aggravation threshold.

I am running OEM at the moment...I am going to replace the fronts sometime before December..thinking if go OEM or aftermarket.

I had Akebono Ceramics and went with OEM and had to clean brake dust off my wheels several times a month and now am back to the Akebono permenantly and my wheels are virtually dust free and they lasted longer than the OEM ones I had.
