what can be done to a 96 SR5 4WD?

Hello everyone.
I might soon be buying a 1996 SR5 from my mom (she's getting a Subaru Tribeca). Its nice and powerful as it is, but I'm used to my turbocharged volvo. I've driven the SR5 many times before, and really enjoy it, though I'd like a little extra oomph. Is there much I can do, such as turbo or supercharging it, or would that be overkill?

There is a supercharger made by TRD, I believe it's like $2500. I have seen quite a few 4Runner's with them.

Yeah you will end up gaining somewhere around 60+ rwhp. Use the search for people with them on, theres quite a few.

I don't have one but from what I hear a PROPERLY tuned TRD SC can give ya more oomph plus better gas mileage. It is $$$ though and it is HIGHLY recommended that you get all the extra stuff so the car can handle the SC. The song "If I had a million dollars" just popped in my head.

Yes if you end up with a SC you should think about new fuel injectors, fuel pump, the 7th FI kit, and a new intake, and take it to a shop to be tuned.

damn, $2500 is way too much right now. Oh well. I guess I'll have to stick to some cheaper bolt on upgrades if I get it.

Let it breath do exhaust and intake. You can get about 40HP at the fly with just that. Remember this.... Speed costs money. How fast can you afford to go?

List of my modifications.

Last time I dyno'd 246 rwhp and 282 rwtq. Translates to 307 crank hp and 352 crank torque after a 20% drivetrain loss. Gets you to 60 mph in 6 seconds from a dead stop.
