What can I do for the O/R look ?

Just looking for idea's/opinion's. I want to give my truck a little more aggressive/off-road look to it . I'm thinking on taking off the Revo's and doing some BFG's , but will probably miss the ride quality of the Revo's , but so be it .....

I can' t lift because my truck is leased, maybe a bar on the front ??

Any other idea's ?

Other than than -

A nudge bar with some driving lights

A CB antenna (preferably with a working cb inside the truck ;): )

Remove the side steps

Carry a high lift on the roof racks

Black wheels look very offroad in my opinion but costly when your only leasing. You could probably sell them when your lease expires.
 
I was thinking of doing the 1" spacer in the front , but everone I've seen it look's like a you get a heck of alot more than 1" in front. They tend to look nose high. I'm happy with the way the back sit's,just would like the front tweeked slightly.


And yes mud is a good thing but it does'nt stay on there forever and when I go back to work I need to take client's out too.

haha yea white letters out, the BFGs have no road noise, if any, it can be gone with a light background music from your radio or conversation, ive had mine for about 6 months now and no road noise also they wear very well.
 
You would change the REVOs for BFGs just for the tread pattern! That doesn't make sense when the REVOs are a better traction tire. Put on a bull bar/lights and a hitch shackle if are just concerned about looks.

I personally don't think the Revo's are a better traction tire except in rain,wet condition's. They do ride nicer because the are "P" rated instead of "C" rated. I personally like the snow & off road traction better. I will admit it is hard to tell a little because of the 4R's full time 4x4 is second to none IMO, I just like the look's and handling of the BFG. I've probably had 20 set's over the years and they've never let me down. Just partial to them I guess. I would switch to BFG if I could sell my Revo's for a decent buck. I know kind of a stupid waste of money mod to do that, but oh well.....My schedule and time is so limited except for this week I'll probably not have time to do it but I'll check into it.Like I've said I think they are a great tire , but prefer a little more agressive tread pattern. I still would recommend them to anyone , unless they off road heavy,but like it stated in some of the review's it's more like a agrressive M&S than a tire for off road travel. I was on some snow covered fire lane's and they did well,and seem to do well for other's off road,I guess I would feel more confident if it was a "C" rated tire.

The bar on the front is a good suggestion and I've got to look for something I like , not sure of what your talking about for the back though.

I can tell from experience with both tires on my 2wd Taco which has a very demanding need for traction especially on wet or snow covered pavement (very light rear) that the BFG ATs don't compare to the REVOs. I had to add 200lbs. to bed for the BFGs to perform as good as the REVOs.

As people know from my experiences on three sets BFGs vs my new Nittos from other threads is there is no comparison when it comes to on road performance as the Nittos are a much better tire when it comes to wet handling and dry grip and the cost is much cheaper.
Off road the BFGs do have a stronger sidewall than the Nittos but overall their performance is nearly identical but the BFGs do have better sidewall lugs so sidewall grip against the rocks is a tad better.
Now for me my Runner is a DD and goes off road maybe 8-10 times a year so on road performance is a big consideration (I also only see maybe 10k miles a year) and I don't do anything too crazy off road and the Nittos fill the bill nicely for my driving habits and I would never put a set of BFGs on mytruck UNLESS it could be more of a dedicated weekend warrior cause they still probably have the best looks and overall off road performance.

I wouldn't really recommend Terra Grapplers to those who put alot of miles per year or go on long road trips due to they do ride a it rough and no mileage warrant but are rated at 500 for the treadwear. Revos seem to fit the bill for those who see true off road a few times a year but still want very solid street performance.

I hate the fact that people buy BFGs solely for the looks and never see off road which isn't the greatest or safest choice for a large vehicle like a stock Tahoe,Excursion,etc. since those will never see the true benefit of the BFGs and is like throwing money down the toilet but if you got money to blow then I guess that's your perogative.
 
Kos, that is a good comparison with the 2wd taco. It's kind of a no brainer of an equal comparison.

OK I'll keep the Revo's and put them through the paces.I'm just such an old school 44 y/o that having new thing's in a 4wd truck & new technology is hard for me to accept sometime's. ie: buying the V8 with full time 4wd, I hated it but tried it and it's fricken awsome in winter and wet weather,same with the center locking diff. it work's great !!

I guess I need to just get with the program sometime's....lol. I've had 4x4 truck's my whole life and a new one about every 3 year's since I was 20 , so I've had alot of different brand's and 4wd system's.

I drive about 25k per year so the Revo's have been a great ride so far,an in all honestly have performed their duty well,and road noise and ride quality have been excellent...I need to go out and get muddy !!!

Maybe I'll stick the extra $$$$ into the Cobra to get over 500 RWHP...although it's pretty radical power already , and throw a few other goodie's on the 4R.

You know I've been home sick for month now from work , and my mind wander's along with my wallet and credit card.....probably out of sheer bordum.

With the tire's it's so hard to tell what's was working better since I have the full time 4wd,because even when wet/rain you can just puch this thing and it fly's off the line with no spin,that's why the Taco comparision was good point's.

You may want to look at the LT REVOs next time, they have a more agressive tread pattern (wider and deeper). They are also GREAT off-road with the ability to air down and the side wall still staying strong because of its "E" rating. You get the best of both worlds with great on and off road ability.

Good plan Koz, I wonder why they don't make a "C" rated to compete with other's. Do your "E"'s ride pretty stiff ?

its not the type of rim its the type of tire that makes a truck look sissy.
