What can I use to remove old adhesive tape?

I tried using the Goo Gone in the spray bottle and it removed some it, but the rest isn't coming off. Is there anything else I can use to remove it?

The Goo Gone will work, it'll just take a lot of time and elbow grease. Let it soak for a couple of minutes, then go at it with a microfiber towel.

I promise it'll work after a good deal of effort.

rubbing alcohol

Rubbing Alcohol works on duct tape residue. Not very quickly, but then again it doesn't smell too bad and doesn't make a mess. Get the 99% stuff if you can find it.

3m rubber eraser wheel. O'Reilly's sells it. 2 minutes tops and it's off.

3M makes an adhesive remover available in aerosol, part number is 38983.

Outside of CA it may be available in pint or quart cans. That was the best I've ever seen back when it was available here.

I'll usually start with goo gone but if it doesnt seem to remove the adhesive easily, ill usually let my car sit out in the sun so the adhesive loosens up or gently warm it up with a blow dryer.

At first I too thought I needed to just man up, but this stuff is hardened on. The Goo Gone makes what is left slick and nothing more is coming off with the towel.

WD-40 will eat that stuff off quick

Tried WD-40 and no bueno. This stuff is on there good.

I think I am going to have to go the 3m Rubber Wheel route. Does anyone know how well this would work with a cordless screwgun? I know a corded drill would work best, but I don't have one.

That looks pretty thick. I'm guessing you removed the vent visors? Easiest thing to do would be get new ones... but I think the rubber wheel idea might be the best option if you don't plan on putting window visors back on.

Goo Gone is meant more for removing the sticky stuff left behind from price tag stickers and and such.

Try a little heat(blow dryer) all adhesive will succumb to a certain amount of heat, carefully though heat kills everything, paint/clearcoat included. You can also try acetone or lighter fluid(Naphtha)....but make sure the clearcoat will handle it, lots of urethanes will, but there are no guarantees.

The old hardened adhesive should soften and be easily removable if you find a way to let the solvent soak into it. Probably hold a wet(with solvent) rag for several minutes...maybe ten minutes. Keep the rag wet with solvent...kind of like waterboarding it.
I'd try naptha (Coleman fuel, white gas. lighter fluid) or the special 3M stuff.

The rubber wheel! Goo Gone sucks and WD40 softens it but doesn't remove the tape completely.
