what could cause a "sqeak/creek " n front end.

So over the past few weeks I've done alot of maintance on my truck.

Few weeks ago I installed rancho shocks with a daystar 1.5" lift kit.

Now just recently I installed new axles, new lower ball joints, new outter tie rods (both sides)




The truck rides nice and smooth, no more bangs or clunks. But I get a annoying sqeak/creek when going over small bumps.

What can it be? Anything I can grease up? could it be the shocks?

I figured with all the brand new goodies everything should be nice and quiet :shrug:

Mine does the same thing. In my case it is the coilover bushing at the base of the assembly, where the bolt threads through, the rubber is just worn out.

I think its the bushings on the strut itself.. But can't say for sure..

it could be the bushings on your sway bars, where they are attached to the frame, i know when i put the lift on my old toyota(before i removed the sway bar) it did that. just undo it from the frame, wrap some teflon/plumbers tape around the sway bar where it rests inside the bushing and put it all back together, see if that fixes it. thats what i would always do on BMWs at the dealer if they had been lowered or they had all new bushings put it, especially the polyurethane ones. but even the stock rubber ones will do this so yeah try the teflon tape

Agree with this. Mine would do the same. Check my sway bar bushing and they were split in half. Replaced them with poly ones but now get a squeak from the end links because I forgot to grease those:ybrick:

UPDATE: I sprayed down the sway bar bushings with some WD-40 and the noise is almost gone, going to take them apart and grease them when I have time this weekend. Hope that takes care of the rest of the sqeaking.

you can get a new aftermarket sway bar bushings kit for $30. Go to BIGFISH's build thread. He bought them and posted pictures.

DO NOT GREASE THEM! that is a short term "fix" for a long term problem, and greaseing them will only attract dirt and grim and will that will wear them out faster! just use the teflon tape/plumbers pipe thread tape like i said and you will be fine...

I would think that silicone grease / spray would be ok to use. I agree though, don't use WD-40.

it will still attract dirt and dust and then once those components are ther your squeak will be back

Poly is a lot harder than rubber and any dirt that would stick to grease or any spray will wear the inside of the bushing over time by scoring it, might as well wrap sand paper around the sway bar (not as dramatic but same idea)
