What could it be??

I have a 97 4Runner I turned on the ignition and heard what I thought was the fuel pump....but then I felt a vibration coming from the floorboard. I took it to a local Toyota Mechanic and he said that he thinks it is the fuel pump or fuel regulator, he talked me into a fuel pressure check and everything was OK.
He found the problem and said it was the ABS set up...it located next to the fire wall on the left w/all the brake lines coming out of an aluminum block.
Has anyone had anything to do w/this?

If this was a 4th gen I would say it is the electric brake booster pump. An easy way to check is to turn off your engine while coasting, turn the key to on (but don't start the engine) and press the brake. If you still have power brakes that's what it is, and it's normal.

i think i know what your talking about. everytime i turn the key to the "ON" position, i hear a noise with a vibration from the firewall (behind the dash, under the hood). dunno what it is, YET. im thinking my 4runner will transform into something amazing. :biggrin2:

Don't know that's why I posted a picture. I was hoping someone would look at their master cylinder and see if it has the pump and accumulator, then let everyone know.

On the passenger side? So your master cylinder doesn't look like this one?

It is behind the airbox bolted on the fender right below the wiper motor
