What did everyone pay for their 4th gen?

In process of purchasing 2006 Sport Edition 4WD V8 4runner. 86k miles, one owner, well maintained (timing belt ,water pump done etc.) $14.4k. How did I do?

Comparing it to California prices, you did decent. Thats pretty low mileage for a 2006 and a good price considering the timing belt and water pump got done (I have a 2006 V8 myself).

The V8's are getting harder and harder to find, especially ones that have been well maintained and are low mileage and I much rather pay a grand or two more for something that has been meticulously maintained than one with no service history. The timing belt and water pump being done saves you money you would have had to spend at 90k.

One weird thing I found in the record hostory is that at 70k miles Toyota replaced the XREAS system with regular shocks/struts. I wonder why the prior owner had Toyota do this?

The XREAS have a tendency to eventually start leaking (there is a whole thread dedicated to them). Mine started leaking around 60k miles and they were so darn expensive to replace that I also had the XREAS taken off and went with a different setup. There are others that have had XREAS without any issues. Just a luck of the draw. I currently run Bilstein 5100's shocks with Dobinson springs. Most people replace the XREAS with something aftermarket once they begin to leak.

Where are you and this T4R located, actualy it's more important to know where the T4R spent most of it's history up to this point of you buying it?

I'm going to inspect the frame before purchasing but I hear you this issue. Fortunately it is an AZ car that has spent it's entire life in the Southwest.

2008 sr5 4x4, 133k miles
Bought it for 7k, taxes and everything at an insurance auction.
Replaced an airbag and center cap on one of the wheels and shes as good as new. Roughly 8k total.

Finally picking up my new 2004 T4R limited V6 2wd next week. 210k miles for $2500 from my mother. Having some major 4x4 envy but it was too good of a deal to pass up. Has had all maintenance done (fluids, belts, plugs etc) and has already had the head gasket fixed. In good shape

Hi there all, new to the forum. I just paid $8,600 for a 2003 SR5, base, 223k mi., mostly freeway from I can deduce. 1 owner and she was evidently sticking to the maintanance schedule down to the 60k service again at 180k. Interior looks and feels brand new. Runs beautiful. Also, this was the best deal on a 4th gen within 150 mi. I live in Springfield, OR.

I got my 2005 v6 sr5 in June '17. 133k miles, super clean, and clean carfax for $10.5k. Thought I got a great deal until the air went out at the beach a month later. A year later and I finally found out it's the ac compressor seals. Also have had the check engine light on reading cylinder 6 misfire with a miss when you start it. Changing the plugs and ignition coil for that cylinder didn't help, but it eventually just stopped missing and the check engine light went off.

We now have three 2004 v8 4wd

Got the bug... aquired our first one in November of last year (2017) and within about 8 months now have three...

First one for my daughter:

2004 Sport V8 4wd black- private sale, (Craigslist) in knoxville,TN , originally from Bentonville AR... very nice, with lift kit, maintained very well, body very good, minor dings expected for the age, but ALL fluids has been changed within 10k, everything works. 189k, no rust and undercarriage looks perfect, warranty replaced dash, new 265/70 k02s, previous owner was an wrencher and enthusiast. $9400 cash but no money needed to be put into it .. does need a 200k timing belt coming up however mechanically very sound.... had a Alpine aftermarket standard speaker system sounded blah, we put in JBL speakers and sounds great in there.

then next I was so jealous I had to have one and my 2001 pathfinder was almost dead so I found:

2004 Sport v8 4wd silver - private sale, Craigslist, also knoxville, TN - all its life .... stock.. body fine, with some scuffs and battle scars... the wife's car, 3 owners but in the same family (dad, then two sisters) originally bought from Carmax from a "corporate title" at 69k.... was not neglected but was clearly used to haul car seats and occasional boat and was handed down as "just a family car" to them, no proactive maintenance, nor real history other than oil changes in carfax... 210k when I got it, no rust, mildly cracking dash, tranny thunk, got lucky with new 265/65 K02s.... got a deal at $5000, but put another two grand into it with brakes/rotors, new radiator (leaking), timing belt/pump/belts, CV, and fluids (diffs/xfer), and pretty much all bulbs.. going to drain and refill the tranny pan soon... so I am all in at about $7500 right now. Has the JBL sound system and I love it... great sound... added the BT45TOY bluetooth/phone module and love that.

then my other daughter just got:

2004 Limited v8 4wd black - she wanted leather and likes the creature comforts so that worked out.. From a great used car dealer, in Lebanon, TN - previous Indiana/Kentucky history... slightly more surface rust underneath, but not enough to care. 210k, amazing beautiful exterior, interior really good, but just slightly cracking dash along edges, various bulbs out - I have fixed, and great news is dealer just replaced both new headers and cats (was ticking and dash light with codes wouldnt pass emissions)... $6300 plus state tax for total of $6900.
still to do since we just got it: needs timing belt, CVs, prob brakes/rotors and tires are old worn Michelin will change in Spring to K02. After repairs and tires, probably will be in for about $9000. It has the premium JBL but someone yanked it out and put an Alpine head unit that must be wired weird and does wonky things with FADER and BALANCE to the speakers. I got a factory head unit off ebay for $75 and going to put it back in to fix it back to sound right again and add the BT45TOY for bluetooth/phone capability.

... after all said and done after initial purchase prices and repairs we will have roughly $25,000 in them between all three ... I love that considering thats close to half of a new one and the sticker price for all three was about $120,000. :bravo: These are just city cars and the first cars for my daughters... no off road for them... my short term goal is to see them reach 300,000 on each of the odometers. Looking forward to the journey and owning my first 4runner... now just wondering what took me so long...

About $14,000 for a '08 SR5 w/ 162,000 miles. V8, 4x4, leather, really clean, mechanically and cosmetically perfect.

I think the dealer fleeced me a little but too late now I guess. I love it though and I'm getting excided to start customizing it and making it my own

I feel better about paying $10k for my 03v8 limited 4x4 at 168k miles from the Pacific Northwest. Previous owner was a Microsoft yuppie that ran royal purple and clearly never used the truck.

I've since dropped about another $10k into Overkill maintenance and whatever the ARB bumper cost.

All in$22k and counting, *sigh. Do I really need a $9k rear axle? Probably.
