Got my 2008 Urban Runner a few months ago, 179k, one owner, no rust, Blizzard Pearl(that's getting a free toyota paint job since it's chipping everywhere lol).
I paid 8k and traded a 2008 Rav4 that burned oil from factory and had an oil pan gasket leak. Best decision of my life.

Damn looks like I got screwed with the Covid and the PNW tax…. Oh well, I’m happy with and ain’t going to fuss over couple thousand dollars for a vehicle I plan to have for many years to come
$13,500- ‘06 SR5 4x4 135k miles, literally spotless engine bay and underbody, lived in UT it’s whole life. Good service history, bought it from the dealer that sold it new (one owner). Bone stock, brand new tires, I think I overpayed a tad, but I’m happy with it and genuinely plan to drive it to 300k+ miles.
I got lucky this spring and found a 2008 Sport V6, 88k miles, $11,500!
Gorgeous shape, cosmetically. Some rust underneath. Needed tires and the LF bearing when I got it, and some other little things. Sunroof gasket was shot due to frame corrosion, but a salvage replacement glass solved that. It didn't initially go into 4L, but I eventually got that loosened up and working fine.
Unfortunately, I have zero service history on it, so I decided to be overcautious with some preventative work. The CV boots were torn for who knows how long, and the X-REAS shocks looked a little wet. I planned to do a conservative 2"/1" lift anyway, so I decided to go big while putting in the Eibach Pro-Truck Lift System and replace both front axles, sway bar bushings, and the other hub assembly.
Topped it off with 5th gen 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium rims and Michelin Defender LTX M/S SL 265/70R-17 tires.
All this was done by local mechanics or Toyota and cost about $6,000. (Which happened to be how much cash I got for my last truck!)
The final step will be dealing with the rust before winter. But I think I need to let my wallet recover a little.

Paid $16,000 CAD for my 2008 Sport Edition (US vehicle). But it was the best conditioned frame I could find. Absolutely no frame rust.
These thing do hold there value. Around Ontario used car dealers are selling these for around 20K give or take, and with some frame rust.

I’ve come across a 07 SR5 4x4 with 45k original miles from 1 owner up here in WA state where prices are always crazy. He is firm on pricing at 19k so wondering if this is over priced? Honestly every time I get on Craigslist right now, if I find one around 100k miles they are always 20k or more especially if under 100k and a limited model. Thanks for the help all.
Mine already had 143,000+ miles (approx 230,000kms) on it when I bought it in August, but jumped on it because everything from CV joint, timing chain, brakes, new battery, new radiator, Krown'd undercoating, etc were already fixed or replaced.
So it is stuff, some of it major work, that I didn't have to deal with down the road for a long time.

Honestly, I had to replace my 07 Sonata which was rusting and falling to pieces, I didn't want buy a new car, wanted a 4runner for a while and bought my 08 Sport after months and months of looking.

I did get a autocheck which verified the miles and maintenance history from the owner. He was a long haul truck driver who bought it new and only drove it when he was home or his wife would take it out from time to time while he was gone. Going to look Friday. If everything checks out I might just pull the trigger. I’ll be sure to engage 4H and 4L I’ve heard it can be sticky for 4L

And yes, make sure they all work. When I test drove mine with the owner he was more than happy to show me and made sure everything worked before I pulled the trigger. Also for mine when test driving it he let me take over some medium sized bumps and dirt roads, to test and engage everything. Plus mine felt very smooth on normal roads and dirt and bumps. There was no clunking, squeaks, rattles, groans. It felt and drove like new., not that I actually know what a new 4runner drives like but you know what I mean.
Do your due diligence and use your instincts. I didn't even talk my guy down, mainly because it was already cheaper than dealer prices and it felt right. It felt like I was robbing him, lol. He said he was working less and had to sell it.

The prices are absolutely insane for some of the 4th gen 4runners I see listed online in Colorado. Some people are so delusional about the price. 14K for one with 285k miles! Or how about 17k for an '03 V8 with 200k miles. I think I'm in the market for the wrong vehicle...

More like unfortunate timing. With that said, I paid $19K out the door in 2014 for my '07 Sport with 96K miles; that's $22K in 2021 dollars according to an inflation calculator (which seems pretty crazy over just 7 years, but that's what it said). Mine had zero rust and the dealer replaced the actuator since 4LO didn't work. More of a fair deal IMO than a great one but after a year of scouring metro Atlanta with nothing on my must-have list except 4WD and a sunroof, I found this one in Greenville, SC and wasn't about to pass on it. Seven years and ~125K miles later (I'm at 220K now), best vehicle decision I ever made.

2007 Sport Ed 4x4, 131k, 1 owner, very clean for the age and new BFG KO2's installed . Purchased on Sept 1st of this year for $13,500.
I lucked out and I know it. A small dealership 45 min outside of Kansas City took this in on trade and priced it locally for their area. I was looking for 4runners and was literally refreshing my autotrader search every hour that I was awake. This popped up on a Monday morning and I called immediately and gave my deposit, purchased my plane ticket and I was on my way.
They didn't realize what they had until after they took the deposit and calls started pouring in from around the country. When I got there I asked the sales manager what was the catch because I knew they could have gotten more for it. He said no catch, they didn't know how popular it would be and that if I didn't want it, they would relist it for $17k. I said that's not going to happen because it's mine now. :bounce:

This is not even up for debate. If you see it in person and it's clean and rust free....BUY IT! Especially if this is something you plan to keep long term. I've see crap condition ones with 100k go for $17k within days.

Thanks for response.. I’m going tomorrow and brining a check with me so I think if everything looks good and 4wd works as it should, I’ll pull the trigger. It’s been tough looking during this market and especially in the PNW. We honestly thought at one point just going 5th gen new…. But with the money saved there’s room for add ons.
Yeahp i hose it off is about it. But a lot has to do with spending 3 nights at a time shark fishing. Its just covered basically all the time. Nature of the beast. Never been stuck yet full loaded too and we bomb some NASTY sand.
